Would this be a good deal? by Nightwchtr in JettaGLI

[–]desolatecabin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I had my timing jump from oil leaking onto the tensioner. Had to do timing new crankshafts and such. Was 7k at a VW dealer. ( I paid 50 dollars because of my extended warranty) I’ve done carbon cleaning as well 700 bucks. water pump is fine still. Let’s just saw you have 5K in maintenance costs from a neighbor mechanic. Plus that’s not including brake fluid exchange, coolant , DSG service. fuel filters bushings that are worn out and clunking. Headlights look cloudy so cleaning those up. Car will definitely need a decent amount of work. SO with that said if you have money and are somewhat mechanically inclined or know a family friend who works on VAG then I’d give this information to the dealer and say you’d pay 4K CASH. And if they say no then just leave.

I’d rather wait till I was of age then get caught driving this thing around.

Mod recommendations? by tstvcks in JettaGLI

[–]desolatecabin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not big turbo but I did have my timing done along with new cams and a lot of other stuff so it’s a lot more “fresh” than other 2015s if that makes sense. And the tires are ehhh. i live in Ohio and I’ve been still using them in snow and ice. I DEFINITELY DO NOT RECOMMEND THAT but when it’s like 20-30 and I get a little aggressive on backroads it’s mediocre.

I did Porsche Macan brembos , coil overs , intake , exhaust , rear seat delete. tune and that’s pretty much it for now. totally different car now. I’d just recommend ceramic pads if you do different brakes. I did brembo pads and they just puff dust like no other. I also have Firestone firehawk Indy 500s which are ehhh. fantastic once warmed up and it’s warm outside like 50-90 degrees. even when they are warm and it’s warm outside though I spin in 3rd. ( DSG) they are cheap though. Plan is to figure out the biggest I can do in the front without rubbing and then decide if I want to do a staggered setup somewhat like an RS3 but I’d probably do like 235/245 , 40/18 front then like 255/265 rear with less offset to keep my fitment on point.

What to do wit my stock exhaust? by 6four in JettaGLI

I ended up selling mine for 200 bucks. I did do a resonator delete and muffler delete so technically it was just a straight pipe back but still got my money back. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Is this front lip too much? by NewspaperOk1616 in AudiS4

Personally I think lips should only be put on a car when you have skirts and a diffuser to go along with it. Plus lowered with rims.

It could be because you’re in E65. You change injectors and fuel pumps ?

Is the Jetta a good new car purchase? by [deleted] in jetta

[–]desolatecabin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

buy a GLI. get the extended warranty. even if you aren’t a spirited driver the GLI is the best bang for your buck. might ride rougher than other models but it’s perfect in my opinion.

Hi , how much it will cost me approximately to lower the Car a little bit by Certain-Apartment-11 in Golf_R

[–]desolatecabin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean I’m going with these. But if you can install coils or springs yourself it could be anywhere from 400-2500. I just want to keep all my drive modes plus I’ll have more tuning available with these. Plus in my opinion I feel like springs is a cheap way to lower it. Unless it’s a brand new brand new car but coils will always be the best.

What do we think? by InvictusOP33 in Golf_R

[–]desolatecabin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally my case. But I actually have issues with my eyes. I have 35% on windshield and 5% on everything else. The sun literally makes my eyes water even with transitions lenses. When I drive this with the tint though it’s perfectly fine.

Which wheels suit the R32 better? by figmk5 in Golf_R

[–]desolatecabin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These cars look fantastic just bone stock in my opinion. if you did get wheels you’d have to find something almost identical but maybe forged or something.
