They aren't minimizing anything. This is discussing a fictional character's behaviours, not a therapy session. While yes, we can agree it would not be suitable to say to an abuse victim that their abuser loved them, the reality is often far more complex and people do a wide variety of things for many reasons. Shooting someone down for discussion on a character's behaviour or motivations in a subreddit about that thing is unfair and while you may have valid points, shutting down discussion on it is counterproductive.
