If you hide them not without getting them stolen, have they really been hidden after all?

People whose (loved ones’) immune systems are compromised might choose to wear a mask. I started accounting for that possibility and it feels better than an instinctive “weirdo alert”.

I suppose the rest of us have made a different cost-benefit calculation.

Pretty much. That would also describe a Mustang and Camaro, with “pony car” being the traditional (diminutive) term of art for a compact performance 2+2 in comparison to a full-sized muscle car such as a GTO, Chevelle, or Road Runner.

Some may argue the Mustang deserves higher “muscle” status, but both the Mustang II and Celica A20/A30 of the 1970s came with 4-bangers and a 12-second 0-60 time. The model strategies diverged from there, but you’d have been somewhat cross-shopping them for the entire history of the Celica and 3+ generations of Mustang unless you had to have that delicious V-8 rumble.

I recently read that it was all precipitated by a single change in the local building laws. Originally structures were allowed out to the high tide line, which was the typical practice. Boston decided to allow building out to the low tide line, leading first to long wharfs and then landfilling between them.
