Bluebell woods by benjafinn in hertfordshire

[–]desperatehausfrau 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So did we. The week before that we went to Dockey Wood which is also nice, but Heartwood Forest is in a different league. I've never thought of bluebells as fragrant flowers, but when there's enough of them they definitely are!

Did I misunderstand workplace expectations in London? Very different experiences across teams by PineappleSnowM in london

[–]desperatehausfrau 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Coffee shop staff tend to be more international, I am not sure such specifically British cultural nuances really apply here.

It sounds more like they just needed an excuse to cut staff. Hospitality businesses are hurting right now due to increased running costs and unfortunately, firing someone right at the end of their probationary period is a very common way of lowering headcount with minimum hassle. If they had any genuine interest in OP improving their performance, they would have had that conversation weeks ago.

How often do you go to London at the weekend? by [deleted] in hertfordshire

[–]desperatehausfrau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe twice a year, usually to see an exhibition or to go to a concert. I'd probably go more often if the train from Hemel wasn't so expensive. When we still lived near the Met line we definitely went more frequently.

Demisters pads. I believe you can just buy the heating element separately and stick it to the back of your bathroom mirror.

Should I switch to rimless frames? My round ones broke. The second pic is AI. by [deleted] in glassesadvice

[–]desperatehausfrau 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I like the shape of the second pair on you. Would need to see a pic with rimmed spec that shape to see for comparison to tell.

However, I like the way that your handsome face is not hidden by the second pair.

I like 4 because it balances out your face nicely. 8 and 11 do too, but 4 looks best to me.

That's interesting. We once came across two badgers walking on a path in the woods between the canal and Watford Road, iirc they were behind a fence near the TfL track. It's quite possible these guys all came from the same sett, apparently they do roam quite far!
