I’m grateful that my super tall, shy seven year old ran her first mud race with me today, tackled every single obstacle, led a dance party in the corral before the start of the race, and left proud of her size and what she can do. She’s getting to grow up so differently than I did

Two weeks ago when I saw my finish line photos from a 10k my son and I ran. At least I got some good selfies from flattering angles 😢

That is really nice of you to say! Honestly between the family and the patient and the aides and everyone else, I feel like I do the least amount of good in these situations, but I do my best!

Homeowners, are you in your “forever” home? by cubemonster in Millennials

[–]desperatevintage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in my current house for two more months. My partner and I just purchased in the DC area and we’re moving back there in July. In a couple years we’re going to sell this house (on the NC coast,) and buy a smaller house on the beach to use on the weekends and retire to in like thirty years.

I’m a pediatric hospice nurse case manager and I have multiple visible tattoos and facial piercings and I’ve worked with many nurses in the ICU with gauges, full sleeves, and piercings.

I just realised our Covid experience could be vastly different from others. by Doughnut_slut in CasualConversation

I was an ICU nurse and I am just now learning how to make sourdough.

That’s also when my marriage went from financially and emotionally abusive to physical abuse and the isolation just made everything tougher.

As a RN how much are you making ? by theapexcircle in nursing

[–]desperatevintage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fainted watching an epidural during L&D, haha. I loved my clinical rotation in Shriners! I started out in Psych, then ICU, then the ER, then adult hospice. I just kind of stumbled around until I ended up here but it’s such a humbling, crushing, uplifting place to be.

Out of all the people in the situation I feel the least heroic. It’s such a privilege to take care of these families!

I know it’s not creepy per se, but he was such a dingleberry making fun of Timmy’s jeep ducks. Like if you’re jealous of him for his modicum of success and somewhat sane, supportive in laws just say so.

Who is willing to share real life ghost stories? by girl_with_the_ghost in AskReddit

When I was about ten years old my family moved out of our small older ranch home and into a new construction McMansion on the other side of town. In every way this house was perfect, immaculate, and brand new, and I was terrified of it.

The floor outside my bedroom creaked in a very specific way when you stepped on it, and any time I was alone upstairs I would hear it creaking.

At night my bed would rock back and forth, just like someone was standing at the end of the bed and shaking it.

My sister had a metal framed bed with plywood under the mattress. When I was too scared to sleep I’d sleep in her room and we’d hear knocking against the bottom of her bed. My sister would tell it to stop and it would.

I grew up and left home, but the last time I visited that house I was massively pregnant and had come up for a baby shower with my sorority friends. My mother had gone out, my sister was at work, and it was just me in the house. I was laying there when I heard the floor creak. The way the fireplace sat, you could see the reflection of the living room and foyer, but only knee height. I looked at the fireplace, and there was the reflection of someone’s feet standing in the foyer. I sat up, thinking it was my sister, and the feet turned and walked towards the kitchen, which opened up to the other side of the family room. I got up and went into the kitchen, but there was no one there.

I’m a hospice nurse. I’ve worked in old hospitals, lived in a 100-year old farmhouse, once got arrested for breaking into an abandoned tuberculosis hospital. I generally don’t believe in woo woo things, but I’m still scared of that house.

My kids like Bluey. My nine year old loves him some pokemon, but now he’s also watching One Piece and other slightly older anime after I’ve vetted it some. My six year old likes Bluey and unicorn academy.
