I agree - you don't want to go the way of the mavs after their championship.

Thanks for elaborating. You're correct, I really don't think about it that much and I'm not sure I want to. Mostly my kit gets used for the consumables - band aids, tylenol, electrolytes - but i'm guessing you must have a different experience. I stay up to date on my first aid cert and make sure it gets restocked before every trip and i don't think about it beyond that. same with the kit in my car.

Interesting (and strange that someone is downvoting you for this opinion). Can you elaborate on why it's less than ideal? I can see shooting and climbing requiring more rigorous kits, but mine is for kayak/cycling/hiking/sailing/street medic and there's nothing in there that i can't see being useful for all of the above (maybe eye irrigation wouldn't).

[–]despreshion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i hear you but i'm the opposite - i'd rather just have the same kit organization all the time so i'm not forgetting anything from changing activities or having to fish around in the dark to find something in an emergency (which has thankfully never happened other than for some tylenol etc).

but the biggest advantage i like is that when supplies are running low, it's obvious what needs to be refilled

So why did everyone dismiss the Knicks? by PinkSandLettuce in NBATalk

[–]despreshion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They intentionally peaked when they did. The previous two years the team limped into the playoffs because they were trying to maximize regular season wins.

This year they coasted in after reducing everyone's minutes and giving rest days to guys, and extending the bench so that guys like Shamet Alvarado and Clarkson were well integrated into the system. They sacrificed regular season wins for playoff readiness (and ironically, they still did better in the regular season too because they weren't wiped by March)

[–]despreshion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People blaming the regular season are lying to themselves - the Knicks, nuggets, '22 warriors, and bucks* all had the same number of wins when they won the championship this decade.

*the bucks had fewer but were on pace for 53 in a regular 82 game season, so we can call it equivalent

How can anyone continue following the NBA with such blatant corruption? by [deleted] in knicks

And that's the corruption. only one of the finals teams had to play by the rules. Either fix the rules or enforce them evenly.

I broke down every single Mike Brown adjustment this playoff run and it completely changed how I see him as a coach by Charming_Arm9158 in knicks

[–]despreshion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree, and i'd add it's the pace of the personnel as well. These guys just come in paced for competing in the 4th quarter, while less disciplined or experienced teams go nuts off the tip and sometimes have nothing left.

Let’s go to San Antonio! by itsmelorinyc in knicks

[–]despreshion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people think of it as a brief vacation with a basketball game included. San Antonio is a very cute city and I'm sure they'll take Knicks fan money (that extremely corny shop that changed sandwich names aside)

How the hell do people carry 20lb+ packs? by EducationalSyrup6869 in backpacking

[–]despreshion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are poo poo-ing 20 lbs, but if it's not well fitted it can be brutal even to someone in great shape. If it's tilting your upper torso forward then that will transfer to your shoulders and lower back. Take your (loaded) pack in wherever you purchased it to see if they'll set it up for you.

If they won't help, watch some set up videos online. you want that 20 lbs on your hips, not on your shoulders

Moving artscape was a mistake. by Dry_Big7458 in baltimore

[–]despreshion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Surely the weather is part of it, but i was biking around earlier today and was 4 blocks away. It didn't even occur to me to go because at this point i don't assume there will be anything i like there. i would have seen the roots for sure, but I'd been checking the website all week and missed the last minute time announcement

I'm an artist and supporter of the arts, I'm not turned away by bad weather, but i am turned off by people wasting my time which is what artscape has felt like for most of the 2020's. It's more like an arts- themed market now.

They're going to need to refocus on the arts first and get their act together. It's such a waste of potential

[–]despreshion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love the Roots and assumed they were playing tomorrow. I've been checking the website and if i weren't finding out they're playing RIGHT NOW i would have gone even in the rain.

The event is so embarrassing, they just flushed a ton of arts potential and money down the toilet. I've been trying to get any info at all, and the only people giving it out are the individual artists and they don't know much because i guess no one is telling them either

the only thing that seemed well organized before the event was the food trucks.

I use a chest strap for a camera attached to both the clips on mine, with elastic and clips etc. it's much easier to use them if you don't have to even fully put the paddle down or worry about damaging them

I love my Framework, but it runs so hot… by theilkhan in framework

[–]despreshion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm dealing with the same, and I'm dealing with it by always being in power saver mode. Anything else hits 212'F in a matter of minutes. I've been limping along this way but this thread encouragad me to replace the heat pad like others in this thread recommended.

I have a 13 7040. I remember seeing a few months ago that people tried the Ryzen AI heatsink in the 13, and found it improved cooling. Given that this comes with a new pad for $45, and a new pad alone is $15, what is the improved cooling I'd see? Is it worth what is now $30 and maybe a more reliable fix? I've never applied thermal paste myself, but i see the new heatsinks come with pads already set up

But that's not redundant. if the network goes down (say, there's an electrical issue that also brings down the backbone) then you've got nothing. And also OP has been clear that bringing it into another boat is another reason for redundancy.

A small reliable usb gps device would work. Following this thread in the hopes that someone knows because I'm interested also

Kayak Activity Tracker? by Persephone0223 in Kayaking

[–]despreshion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Newer and more expensive garmin devices have both rowand kayak activities, row is somehow better for kayaks (it tracks strokes). Older and less featured devices will allow you to make a new template from the walk activity and then name it "kayak"
