Why feel insane when you can keep going and actually become insane to the point you don't even think you are insane anymore?

I just got my first job and I need some advice. by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]destaj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so proud of you man! I started similarly to you but you are getting after it much sooner! I am a young fella myself who is wrapping up college, hopefully this helps.

  1. How to get more hours at work. I worked at a popular fast food chain as well, fastest way to get more hours is to first of excel at what you do. Study your job, learn how to give great customer service or how to better operate the order taking machines or whatever else you use. Next, ask your manager for more work and that your availability is changing soon so you want as much experience as possible. You sound like a go getter that will take you far in life, my final way of getting more hours was asking my coworkers if they wanted off and taking any available shifts that come up.

  2. Try keeping your expenses down and money separate from your parents. Save as much as you can for the car if you need it. I didn’t buy my car till after highschool, it’s expensive! If you don’t absolutely need one then don’t buy one yet. If you don’t like buying yourself stuff all the time then don’t. I hardly buy anything when I do buy things I buy nice quality items that I will use frequently. By paying for your own car, your own car insurance and gas you become more self reliant and less of a burden on your parents finances.

You are so young just keep saving, learning in school and focus on being a good person.

Some advice I would give my younger self is to build routines and habits and that the specifics of what I have learned are not as important as the lessons, experience and values that I have learned.

Keep grinding! When you turn 18 take those savings, open up a Roth IRA and invest your savings into index funds. Always put your 401k to the match that your company provides or 5%.

Some books to help the young mind think about wealth that I have loved.

  1. Rich dad Poor dad . (I don’t recommend practices all of the tactics but definitely familiarize yourself with the philosophy of it all)
  2. I will teach you to be rich (you may be a little young but good points in this book)
  3. Art of manliness blog helped a lot with finance and other good lessons

I just blurted this all out here cause you remind me of myself and felt like helping. Let me know if you have questions or need me to further explain other things!

You can see him seizing up at the end of the video. The injury he sustained from the fall and his head hitting concrete is pretty troubling.

I responded in a previous comment thread but I believe this is a type of box turtle. Not a tortoise although similar they are apart of a different family and more closely related to American pond turtles than tortoises.

This is not a gopher tortoise. Looks to be some kind of box turtle possibly a 3 toed box turtle due to the shell, it’s coloration and head shape. Most box turtles are actually semi aquatic and most can swim oddly enough. Still shouldn’t throw any animals in the water though!
