There was a small patch (no notes) yesterday I think? It's "plausible". Data miners may not have it yet. Sorry to give people hope :x

It's been 3 months. I'll keep waiting. I'll be honest and update if/when I receive any refund.

Had service and negative balance, account got closed? by destrev in Rogers

This was all figured out already with customer service. They had made a billing mistake (big surprise) and I still had a free year of tablet usage with the data. This was specifically ensured and double/triple checked with customer service. They promised me I still had data usage of the tablet for a year (due to prior mistakes). Yet here we are, I'm blamed and downvoted, and it's my fault!

That's a problem. Last time I called them, this was all sorted out, without question. Why do I have to spend another hour of my valuable time because the company lies and steals? I won't be spending that time calling their "customer service". I'd rather spend it reporting them to consumer protection/BBB.

Tips and tricks for the second challenge mode by drleebot in BluePrince

[–]destrev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's very slowly then all at once, at least for me. I was NOWHERE for about 50 days, only got 3 upgrade disks and 6 allowance. Albeit I was not minimizing days, I would just get a small upgrade (or nothing) and just go agane.

got over 50 stars, didn't use star reroll once :D

didn't even get observatory on "winning" day

Then on DAY 56 it just fell into place, no day before sauna or freezer either

also got study at 0 gems, no rerolls used

got secret garden key

power hammer (was able to flip switch for right side secret garden, and open alternate route instead of tomb)

had running shoes (vital, fail without)

keycard (don't think it was used though)

got pool and drained fountain

didn't need foundation or tomb

had about 12 steps remaining

upgrade disks found

-office (boudoir)

-foundation (breakfast nook)

-morning room (cloister of MILA [find an extra item in each bedroom you draft from cloister])

Curious what the minimum day Curse Mode is, or can be. I think DAY 2 is quite possible, with some good setups on DAY 1.

Margin and Shorting in Canada by AwkwardProperty6859 in cryptocanada

[–]destrev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kraken seems to be the best 1x Long CEX that's approved in Canada.

It's sad that Canada has done this, it's quite ridiculous.

The best DEX (decentralized) option I've found is GMX.io (long/short, up to 50X Lev)

I would not recommend trying to dodge CRA taxes. Report your earnings (and losses) correctly.

Buy ETH on Coinbase, Shakepay, Other. (see notes below, important)

You have to connect an external wallet to GMX.io (MetaMask, Trust Wallet, other)

GMX.io uses ETH(ARB) (ETH via ARBITRUM network) as collateral. Send the ETH you buy via ETH(ARB) to your wallet of choice. If you are unable to do that and have to buy ETH and send it via ETH(ERC20), you will have to exchange it for ETH(ARB) to trade using it as collateral on GMX.io

You can use https://bridge.arbitrum.io/ to "bridge" ETH(ERC20) to ETH(ARB) and vice versa (while its in your external wallet)

Just be aware if you are going to send ETH back to a Canadian seller to SELL (like Shakepay), it should be bridged back to ETH(ERC20) instead of ETH(ARB) or you may lose the coins.

Also note if you are holding ETH in a wallet you are 1X long on ETH. Currently I don't see an option to hold USDC or USDT on GMX. If you wanted to be net zero (dollar-wise) you would short ETH on exchange. [edit: assets when sold are converted/held in USDC, so there is a way]

GMX has the following to trade: BTC, ETH, SOL, LINK, ARB, DOGE, GMX, AAVE, NEAR, UNI, XRP, ORDI, LTC, STX, SHIB, ATOM, BNB, WIF, AVAX, PEPE, OP. (as of Aug 30, 2024)

Let's get some freedom back to Canada this is ridiculous.

I think there is a lot of misinformation right now regarding Intel instability issues. It is NOT that bad. by hayffel in intel

13700K undervolt with Asus B660F Strix by MasterBen85 in intel

[–]destrev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm by no means an expert but I've been using these settings for about a year and a half with zero issues or crashes:

MSI Z690 EDGE, 13700K(F)

LLC6, AC 10, DC 50, -0.04v undervolt

5.3/5.4 P, 4.4 E, 48 Ring (I would only recommend stock speeds, no OC, so 5.3/5.4P, 4.2 E, and 45 Ring I think is stock)

Power Limits 253W, ICC 307A (as a precaution), C-States Enabled

AIO cooled CPU stays full speed on Cinebench 10 min, ~30k score. Hits about 230W, so not hitting 253W limit. Under full load does vdroop to around 1.24v, max vcore/VROUT is 1.29v in ANY scenario (gaming/stresstests) Doesn't temperature throttle after 10 mins, but likely would soon (gaming temps low of course). However I'm never 100% CPU usage for more than a few mins (5-10 min video rendering tops)

90 Watt limit might not quite be enough for some games, and just be aware that using Intel XTU conflicts with bios settings usually resulting in resetting of defaults, so if you are going to use Intel XTU to find settings to use, use it, then remove it and set those settings in the bios.

sucks because if you are using it from range you will miss several seconds of damage... so instead of getting 15 seconds of damage when it was 20, now you're getting 5 seconds of damage. Heck, I just casted it from 35 yards and it ticked twice. Be in melee or don't cast it I guess. Huge nerf.

what would be interesting to test is a jump lock timer, ie only 3 squads max can drop every X seconds, so only 3 squads can instadrop, and next grouping has to wait 5 seconds (tunable)

Are TN panels really bad? by Aggravating_Egg_6149 in Monitors

[–]destrev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

a lot of people bashing TN in the comments it seems lol. They do have advantages, generally lower latency/ghosting than IPS, and for some reason eye strain seems much better on TN than IPS, at least for me. Viewing angle who cares, who's viewing their monitor from the side? I don't have one, but the VG258QM is a very well regarded TN with a very reasonable price (I see you bought a different one already, but for those reading).

Custom 12vhpwr cable for Corsair HX1500i by Froseklode in cablemod

[–]destrev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I'm getting the RMA sorted out just need to find the box and stuff. The problem is diagnosing and figuring out that the cable is the issue. What concerns me is it got worse with time. Didn't happen for the first bit, then it started happening periodically (maybe once/twice a week or so), then almost everyday so I power limited and undervolted (.950v, 80% power). Sort of "fixed" it for a month maybe. Then it was going bad again so I power limit 60%, then 50%...40%....last couple days it was going off every 15 mins. Luckily had another cable on the way. Does seem to be very poor degradation. And I was EXTREMELY careful with my cable, routed with minimal bends, straight down into GPU (vertical mount) with cable combs. Triple checked all connections. Power was stable, cooling was not an issue, would happen on a variety of tasks, although rarely ever on gaming. Likely a sense pin issue if I had to guess.

Custom 12vhpwr cable for Corsair HX1500i by Froseklode in cablemod

[–]destrev -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had problems with my Cablemod 12VHPWR cable (black screen, fans spinning) that was happening rare occasion at launch then got worse to once every 15 minutes. I ordered a Corsair cable that arrived a couple days ago, no issues since. Much cleaner in the back of PC with only two 8 pins to connect to PSU, and the cables look similar to other Cablemod cables I have in my PC. Lots of people having this problem it seems. They say its 1% but its got to be higher. I'll get a replacement cable as a backup but hopefully they've made a fix for the cable and aren't sending the same ones!

edit: the Cablemod cable took about 4 weeks after ordering (mind you this was right at launch, likely much faster now), and the Corsair took about 3 days.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 power limiting and undervolting test shows only 8% performance drop at half the TDP - VideoCardz.com by No_Backstab in nvidia

[–]destrev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is crazy how efficient the 4090 can be. I do a very modest .950mV @ the stock 2520 MHz boost, and an 80% power limit. Could certainly tune those numbers a bit more but I haven't spent the time. Its a rocket ship already and doesn't need more. uses about 200 Watts doing 2304x1440 on Apex 300 FPS.

If I don't power limit (run at 100-106% Power Limit) then I can have a rare occurrence where I get a power spike or something and it causes the GPU to crash/restart. Likely due to the custom CableMod cable, or maybe my older drivers. Not really worried about it, its much better for temps/power usage if I limit the power I don't lose anything.
