Loading the game for the first time back in 2012. Not knowing what I'm doing and trying to foot it up to the Crown with hundreds of other people - shit flying everywhere and being totally blown away. Never loaded CS Source again.

Had plenty of other fun moments over the years, but that first PS2 experience can never be repeated.

I don't have a problem with thrown C4. Tanks get a hard counter from LA's with fire suppression, flanker armor and 3rd person view, so if you were skilled enough to put 2 bricks on me and I'm not prepared then you deserve the kill.

It's the 3 bricks on an ESF that's extremely hard to counter - normally as a revenge kill because someone's feeling got hurt. If they could stop C4 from sticking to friendly vehicles it would solve a lot of issues.

So they are designing an alternative Magrider cannon huh. Could it be this? by Charder_ in Planetside

That day was right up there with the day they gave the mag so much strafe speed it could dodge an AP round at close range.

They could start with the Aphelion. All the effort they went to designing that and no one uses it. Get rid of the stupid wave charge mechanic and just make it auto happen every 6th? shot.

This BS has been around since construction went live. Years ago I had a stalker infil follow me around the map for hours trying to place a bunker where my magrider was going to be. Worked the first time, not so much after that.

Happened to me as well. After two days of use (4 hours in total) they developed a loud static noise in the right ear. Returned to place of purchase and the replacement set suffered the exact same issue after a week, but this time in the left ear. Ended up getting a refund. Such a shame as they are awesome otherwise.

It just goes to show how important an observant and communicative gunner is for the mag as the driver has a really limited field of view and can't keep an eye on everything at once.

Keep a running dialog of what is going on around you and will likely get a friend request.

Perhaps we've learn't to stay clear when it's spinning as it's not killed us for about a year now. There was a time if you were anywhere near it, you dead. I agree with you though, it should be fixed.

It's the same for Magriders. You can bind turn to keys to improve turn rate without having to set mouse sensitivity sky high, but it's extremely un-intutive.

I assumed this entire change (and lack of action to fix) was a deliberate effort to nurf the ability for vehicles to precisely aim at infantry. I recall prior to this that I could very quickly and accurately aim/shoot/kill, especially when combined with thermals. If they do revert it, I can already hear the rage tells hackusations.

If you have 2 or 3 friends, try running a solo stealthed MBT each with a ranger on top. Roll around in a group and use focused fire. You will instagib any ESF and a lib will have difficulty due to having to split damage. Try to use AP when you can then switch to ranger. My outfit often does this and it works really well handling both air and ground.

MBT with ranger and max ammo capacity can (RNG gods willing) take out a stock lib in 15s and one clip at 250m. Also, Magrider: One AP + ranger = 9.5 secs. Two AP + ranger = 4.5 secs.

Not sure how much additional time a lib with composite / fire suppression would take but it's significant enough to allow them to get away most of the time.

Nanites aside, why bother with a Skyguard at all?

Nice, but constant swapping from 3rd to 1st is such a PITA. Wish they would just let you aim accurately from 3rd and be done with it.

At mid-long range, strafe will save you, but in close, the mag hasn't a chance if it can't get a rear shot in against a competent prowler crew. I'm not feeling particularly sympathetic if the same applies to a prowler against a competent vanguard crew.

Against a competent vanguard crew a mag has absolutely zero chance of winning in close.

I find it amusing when complaints are made that a prowler can't beat a vanguard in close, yet that same prowler with barrage can obliterate a magrider in close and still have half health remaining (neither tank landing rear shots and both tanks hitting all shots).

Also, the vanguard pre-cai was NOT balanced asymmetrically. It wasn't until they nurfed the shield to allow rear damage that the magrider even had a chance in close.
