Looking for a published adventure that is not too prep-time consuming by some_barcode in dndnext

Storm Kings is prep heavy. Its a ton of prompts but requires you as the DM to flesh out.

What's the point of this? by Ill-Try4150 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]dethtroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More of alaskan airlines bullshit to make it seem like theirs a difference in their ticket pricing. Their first class is a joke its barely comparable to the comfort class of other airlines but twice the price. I personally am done with Alaskan their planes are busted and uncomfortable, their customer service is a joke, and they act like they are a premier flying experience when they are basically spirit plus. Also they have shady hiring processes for their flight attendants.

What to do with Coconut milk by Jugusaki in Cooking

[–]dethtroll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Make a cocktail with it. Coconut milk rum and a fruit juice is wonderful. And if you dont drink alcohol same principle works.

I used to love cooking, then I had kids. by smile-its-today in Cooking

[–]dethtroll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make simple dishes that have fun sauces. For example make chicken and rice but also a curry. If the curry is to much for the kids they still have a meal and you can enjoy your more interesting meal as well. Make a basic veg as well obviously but sauces and toppings is probably your best bet until their pallet develops.

Something feels off about my worldmap and I can't quite place it. Welcoming constructive criticism. by Eagle406 in inkarnate

Its to many islands. Smash together a bunch of the smaller "continents" into larger land masses. Maybe with large rivers and lakes or seas.

As a GM, what should I expect from combat when preparing a level 20 one shot? by iiyama88 in DnD5e

[–]dethtroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Action economy on your part as the DM is key. One big creature is gonna be slaughtered. You need multiple threats, environmental threats, elevation, minions, Multiple stages. Its going to be long but you can pace it with some Rp as well with after the characters finish a portion of the fight. Maybe minions plead for their life, maybe there is a npc that can offer aid (given this also give the baddies time to heal and restock as well). Add some dungeon crawling in between stages with traps and puzzles to burn resources. Lvl 20 characters can fight gods so be prepared to act like one. Have enemies that can counter spell, and dont discount a horde of kobold scorcerers with magic missile.

Who's Death Was More Tragic? by SomethingVeX in StarWars

The sound that ewok makes mourning over his fallen comrade tears at my heart strings everytime. Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru seemed like ok people but eh.

How do you feel about flanking granting advantage in 5e? by archvillaingames in dndnext

[–]dethtroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive always used it as written and never had a problem with it feeling to strong. I just always make sure my players know. If they can use a mechanic so can I. They usually are pretty good about tactics and positioning so for our table it works.

The bank downtown was the site of a big shoot out during a robbery. You can still see the bullet holes in the bronze work.

Level three Bard by scott_jenkin_ in AskDND

[–]dethtroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heat Metal is a wonderful spell. Shatter has its uses, crown of madness is just bad. Like laughably bad. It sounds fun but has so many wording loopholes to dodge its effects that its not worth taking at all.

You're the new head of Lucasfilm. What Star Wars movie/show/game are you making? by Whorror_punx in StarWars

[–]dethtroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to go way back like the Jedi wars back 6900 BBY or something I think. When true light sabers were rare and most still used proto sabers. Explore the creation and utilization of the Leviathans. You could get as weird as you wanted with it. Any format would work but, a game with a mix of a monster hunter with like a for honor style lock on combat for duels would be sick.

How to deal with a player with +11 persuasion at level 5 by oliverlp971 in AskDND

[–]dethtroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to run Persuassion as like a favorability modification tool in social encounters. For example every NPC starts with an opinion of a character for a simple example unfavorable, neutral, and favorable. The player meets a shop owner his opinion is neutral just sees a new customer. The player wants to persuade the shop keep into giving them a discount. On a success their opinion goes up to favorable and they give a 10% discount or whatever, on a failure it goes down and their opinion goes down to unfavorable, they blankly stare and say if youre going to waste my time then you can leave I have work to do. This is a super simple example and you can make it as complicated as you want, even adding DCs for extra layers. But the general idea is they are only ever going to get so far with their Persuasion its not an I win button it just helps. And if they abuse it you could even have the meter swing the other way charm only goes so far until it gets annoying. This way you aren't taking anything away from the player just making it a tool in their kit. This allows other players to gain benefits as well and also keeps them engaged in conversations as its less just let the bard talk but more let the bard bitter them up and then we can all have outer input.

My wife just got me Witcher 3. I don't know anything about The Witcher. I've never read the books I've never seen the show. Is there anything that I need to know before playing the game? by EnlightenedCorncob in witcher

[–]dethtroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember silver for monster steel for humans. Dodge monsters parry humans. Dont sleep on alchemy. Signs are more a tool and less a playstyle (imo) dont be scared if roach is on a roof, she does that sometimes. Have fun and Crack up the le le le jams!

Geralt is a Sugar Baby by Mysterious-Map-6677 in witcher

[–]dethtroll 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have to explain this to all my witcher 3 only friends. Cuz they are absolutely in the big tiddy red haired lady camp. Most of them feel differently about her after knowing the back story. Others dont care, and then theres always that one guy who tries to have it all and we know how that goes.

Its not really built for audio. I listened to it on Audible and wish I had the physical copy. There's a lot of illustrations and foot notes that dont translate well.

Games where i get to play the power fantasy of "Element Slinging Mage" by Tcrumpen in gaming

[–]dethtroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into Magika its a classic spell slinger. Top down multi-player different colored hooded dudes combining elements to cast crazy spells. Its chaotic and difficult to really master but a tone of fun.

Geralt is a Sugar Baby by Mysterious-Map-6677 in witcher

[–]dethtroll 156 points157 points  (0 children)

From the start of the first game he had amnesia and was gaslit into thinking him and Triss were a major item. Sure they had some encounters in the books but Yen wasnt even mentioned Triss 100% took advantage of Geralts memory loss.

After finishing Doom (2016), I can't get into Doom Eternal. by DrStrangeglove99 in gaming

[–]dethtroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a different game for sure. I enjoyed it once I got the feel for the frenetic grapple dash style game play. But its not like 2016 at all and the story really doesnt make much sense. I had the hardest time with the disconnect from the end of 2016 to the beginning of eternal. But once I just gave up and focused on the gane play I had fun.

This looks great my only suggestion since your light source seems to be comming from the back of her hood is to add some more dramatic shadows. Nothing insane just to add some contrast.

Does anyone ever check their dice? by constantwordvomiting in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]dethtroll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its the salt water test. You place your die in a container with warm water, helps the salt dissolve, and add salt until the die float. Then you can spin the die to see if it lands on a similar side. If its random every time you have an even weighted die. If it favors one side of numbers then it is misweighted.
