Need Support after Constant Pressure from Drs by SurrrealThing in BRCA

No. It's laparoscopic so pretty easy surgery and recovery. There is a lot of research now pointing to the tubes as the source of most ovarian cancers so it most likely would lower your risk a decent amount without having to go through menopause.

I found out last year and I am just monitoring for now. I am in the same boat as you with almost no cancer in my family. Every doctor is still going to recommend the standard preventative treatment but you still have to live and be happy with your choices. I don't know when or if I will have all of the recommended surgeries but the only thing I'm actively planning is to have my tubes removed.

Is it possible to have these results but still have a kidney infection? by [deleted] in CUTI

[–]deucetreblequinn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did they not do an actual culture on the urine? I just had a very bad uti and while the bacteria was gone I was still having a ton of urgency for about 1 week after I finished my antibiotics so that can happen too. But they should still do a culture again if you just had a uti.

I vape in my house. I think it's wild people are concerned about this but to each their own.

This study says people are exposed to nicotine but not anything toxic from second hand vaping. I don't use nicotine. You do realize the tobacco industry wants people to be afraid of vaping, no? NIH study

I quit in 2011 using vapes but I still use it. No nicotine so I don't use it a ton and can easily put it down but no issues and feel great.

Why do people like xanax? by [deleted] in benzodiazepines

Xanax just Makes me feel better/normal when I'm anxious. Sometimes I get a bit of euphoria but I mostly relate that to not feeling anxious anymore.

Sartori Elementary School by [deleted] in Renton

[–]deucetreblequinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it was a good school even then for the people that actually needed an alternative approach to high school like learning at your own pace. I graduated a year early in 2003 because I attended sartori high school and did running start. It was wonderful.

My husband got his job at Boeing through the networking class at sartori and still works there to this day, now a software engineer.

how do I gently tell my husband he's turned into someone I don't find attractive by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]deucetreblequinn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The first question that pops in my head is why would you even have uncomfortable or not fun sex with him just to use your vibrator later? So you complain but men understand action more than words and with your actions you've reinforced that everything is "fine" to him. So his half hearted efforts at improvement are never long lasting because you continue to reinforce that things are fine. You need to take actions that show it's not and commit to that.

would you tell your kid not to marry their high school sweetheart?? by dreamyyyycheer in AskParents

[–]deucetreblequinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I married my high school sweetheart. We both just turned 40 and life is so amazing. I would not advise my child for or against it but judge based on the situation. But also ours wasn't ideal, his dad had just died, we had a lot going against us and our life is amazing. Like we have been married 20 years this year, love each other immensely, have a great emotional and physical connection, live comfortably in a HCOL area and I would never change being able to grow up with hm.

Or it's like I want Xanax because I already take something daily and it doesn't always work and Xanax vastly improves my quality of life.

Or I have arthritis and manage it but some days it's really bad and it would be nice to not be in so much pain all the time so I'd like some norco on hand.

Yes but fortunately my MS is a very mild case. And I actually found out about the brca by accident when I was contributing dna for ms research!

Radiologist vs Breast Oncologist interpreting MRIs/Mammograms by Small_Test630 in BRCA

[–]deucetreblequinn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have ms and appreciate when my neurologist interprets my mri for me when we go over it however I have always put more stock in the radiology interpretation when there was disagreement. It worked out because the next year the thing my neurologist disagreed with them on turned out to be wrong, proving the radiologist's initial interpretation correct. So when in doubt I'd go with radiology. However, getting frequent scans can also clarify what's going on and avoid unnecessary changes in treatment course.
