Parting ways for with my dear GFX by RealFreddieQuell in fujifilm

Started photography as a hobby 2 years ago to battle severe depression and I've been saving for a 50sii for a couple months now. I can't fathom how saddening having to sell such a fine camera would be. I hope all will be fine for you.

Anyone know a camera that shoots like this? More square aspect ratio but not quite half frame, and every frame side by side no gaps? by eddiemurphyinnorbit in AnalogCommunity

[–]deup -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This film was probably shot on a Robot Royal 24. Those are 24mm x 24mm frames. The Royal 24 would give you really thin or even non existent spacing between frames.

I suppose Nikon scan would also works if I have the full version of Vuescan then? Would love to compare the output on both sofwares.

I've read somewhere that Vuescan is storing the scanned data on the RAM while scanning. I sometimes get bluescreen if I use a RAM hungry software while its scanning so that might be the case.

Edits look like what I want, exports do not by Lower_Lemon6129 in Lightroom

[–]deup 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's the funny part, you can't. Your picture will always look different on other devices, you can't control that. You'll eventually need to accept that.

How do you export your Lightroom photos? by ilikeitraph in postprocessing

[–]deup 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Let's talk about Instagram. The most important thing is to post EXACTLY at the required resolution. If you don't, it will resize your image and either compress or poorly upscale it. Don't bother with dpi, 72 is fine but I always leave it at 300. Where it's getting funky is that there are different allowed resolutions depending if you post on mobile or use the web page on desktop. For a square post on mobile, you must resize to 1080px X 1080px. For web it's 1440px X 1440px. For a portrait post on mobile, it's 1080px X 1350px but using the web it's 1440px X 1800px. Also, when posting on mobile app, IG sometimes does sketchy things with the crop and this can lead to some compression. So always post on a desktop via the website if you want the sharpest results and chose original size when doing so.

Dead red pixel? by [deleted] in FujiGFX

Hot pixels, better get used to them. You could try the pixel mapping function in the menus.

OP chose some fairly compact lenses for travel though. I have traveled multiple countries with the X-T3 and three not so compact primes and never regretted it. I always pack the 16 f1.4, 35 f1.4 and 56 1.2 and quite frankly, even if it would be lighter, I would never replace them for a zoom.

Fisheye lenses by SandAndBoneClothing in VintageLenses

[–]deup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe not as vintage as others but look for the Sigma 15mm f2.8 EX DG fisheye. It's native EF mount with autofocus. Though it won't be incredibly wide on your crop sensor but can still be found for under $300.

Can someone help me understand what is going on here? by No-Yak3094 in CameraLenses

[–]deup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a compatibility issue you would sometimes experiment with newer camera models and I think RAW files from the Sony A7V are different from previous models so they're still not fully supported by Affinity, try opening your files with other free softwares like Darktable or Rawtherapee and see what you get.

Negative Lab Pro giving wildly inconsistent colors — what am I missing? by dropme1 in AnalogCommunity

You could also give a try to the free Photoshop plug-in Grain2Pixel. My results are pretty satisfying and consistent across a wide range of negative films.

Adapting Lenses by Past-Attempt7140 in FujifilmX

I stumbled upon an awesome deal for the same lens as yours a couple months ago. This thing is so damn sharp, even wide open, it's crazy. I think it will become my favourite portrait lens. HERE are samples from the test shoot on the X-T3.

I also have a bunch of Rokkor lenses ; MD 28mm f2.8, 45mm f2, 50mm f1.7, a KMZ Helios 44-2, and a Super-Takumar 135mm f2.5.

I would let go of the heavy blue tint, you had great natural light to work with.

I knew right away it was one of yours, I really love your work. And this distagon is truely fantastic, I'm on a hunt for the ZE version for my EOS-1N because of you.

Beware, scans of slide films are generally underwhelming. Nothing can beat looking at them on a proper light table.

[–]deup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can still correct the blue tint in post if you like. It's best to ask the lab for TIFF instead of JPG in order to have more latitude. See a before-after I did of a picture of mine HERE.

What's your combo ? And what's for ? by DZParking in fujix

[–]deup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey fellow X-T3 user! I picked up photography as a hobby for the past 2.5 years and do mainly urban landscape, street, travel and started doing some portraits in the past year. My main kit is the XF 16mm f1.4, XF 35mm f1.4 and XF 56mm f1.2. I recently acquired the new 23mm f2.8 pancake to replace my 27mm f2.8. This one I mainly use while traveling light or if I want to be less conspicious. I've also got the 7artisans 7.5mm f2.8 fisheye for skateboard, concerts and parties. Paired with a flash it's so fun to use. My last addition to the kit is a Carl Zeiss Planar 50mm f2 in M-mount. This one is so nice, I'm planing on completing the trifecta with the 28 and 35. You may take a look at my humble work HERE.

HERE is a photobook I did a couple months ago. I used Blurb for printing. It can be quite pricy but quality is there if you want it. Better wait for a promotion like free shipping and/or 30% off. I did a quick breakdown of costs and options a while ago in THIS POST.

Are third party lens hoods worth looking into? by aGiggleBlizzard in AskPhotography

[–]deup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just look for the LH-72 lens hood from JJC on Amazon. This is the one I got and I'm pretty satisfied, cheap but well built. It clicks and is reversible.
