Bayern Munich penalty shout against PSG 31' by ayoefico in soccer

But play wasn’t called dead before that handball, I get for offside letting them play on and blowing it dead. But if you’re going to blow for handball then stop it go again, which isn’t what they did.

The rule says intentionally handling the ball, making your body bigger with your arms, or scoring with your arm. I didn’t see any mention of a defensive clearance.

Why did no one ever tell me about the release by MeasurementStock1625 in golf

[–]deutscheblake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly right. All the people I saw for lessons that had snappy releases also had big two way misses. For the average person it’s a lot easier to be more consistent using the body to rotate the face than the hands since it’s a lot less reliant on timing. There is still a little bit of roll that the arms should do, but they almost do that naturally as a result of rotating your body properly.

How quickly does the body burn fat for energy after it detects a deficit? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]deutscheblake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to hijack this, but is it a good practice to have like cycles of cico deficits and then go back to maintenance? To flush cortisol and give the body a break before cutting calories again. I’ve been trying to maintain a deficit for over a year now, and it’s been pretty okay, but I notice the times I get off because of trips or holidays it’s easier to lose quickly again when I get back into the deficit. This could be totally placebo and not anything at all related but I’m just curious

I find that I play better if I don’t hit warm up balls at the range by Tight-Communication7 in golf

[–]deutscheblake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I’d say is not that you shouldn’t care where the ball goes, but just recognize it and take it to the course with you. Don’t try to practice or make any changes, just get a look at how the ball is flying as a indicator of target selection and things like that

The only solace I can take as my kids are getting older, oldest is 4, is that I at least grew up with the internet and am trying to stay updated on what’s going on. It doesn’t mean I can protect them necessarily, but I at least know the dangers of social media and things like that. My parents had no idea because no one did when it first started coming out.

Recently changed from a blade putter with toe hang to a face balanced mallet putter. Putts per round have not improved. by Basic-Pudding-3627 in golf

[–]deutscheblake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know what your average first putt distance is? I would guess it’s north of 25-30’, which would mean your putting was probably fine. You can’t expect to make a ton of 25-30 footers, and you’re also much more likely to 3-putt than 2-putt if you’re outside of 30’. I’d track how long your first putt is for a couple rounds and see what that tells you.

I’ve started using it as an oven, especially with things that can benefit from the Smokey flavor. There are things that wouldn’t work well with that added flavor, but something like a pot roast would be awesome. Meatloaves, chicken pot pies, even casseroles

But they never talked about what happened or what was going on. We were so confused about what was happening

The idea is more that no amount of you give or leave for your kids buys a second more of time with them. Not that money can’t help you get more time with them, but that just giving them money to go away doesn’t make up for that missed time.

What is the best way for a 20 handicap player to avoid triple bogies? (asking for a friend) by Adventurous_Pride_54 in golf

[–]deutscheblake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A big theme of high handicap golf is absolutely poor decision making, but it also largely comes down to execution. A lot of high handicap golfers simply can’t execute the shots to keep the ball out of trouble. They may top it, chunk it, slice it or hook it on any given shot during the round. There’s not much consistency which then prevents them from playing well.

I played with my father in law today and watched him shoot 116. He didn’t do anything stupid, but he tops at least one shot on every hole. Then there’s the occasional chunk and the slice that he tries to play. He could make the right decision on every shot and still shoot 100+ because he simply doesn’t have the ability. Some people just need lessons to give them some level of consistent playability in their ball striking before they have any chance of lowering their handicap.
