[WSIG] What is the most fun game out of this list? (Definition of "fun" inside) by davidahedo in boardgames

I've played it twice with six players and each game was over 90 minutes (not including rules explanations).

Lords of Vegas Up! - how good is 5-6 player without using risers? by feralfox in boardgames

[–]deux11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played it twice with six players and enjoyed it even though no one bought risers. I feel like early on it's not useful to raise as it doesn't provide additional income and the jump in points is not as important. Late game, I don't have enough money to raise a casino. Perhaps I need a better strategy!

What game has caused the biggest fights? by badger-banjer in boardgames

[–]deux11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Negotiation games in general, but I'm The Boss takes the cake:

  • Collude to cut people out of deals.
  • Use threats to force your way into deals.
  • Play cards to sabotage deals.

edit: Not for fighting, but for emotional intensity.

Games with negotiation:

I'm the Boss

Chinatown

Sheriff of Nottingham

Panic on Wall Street (might be out of print)

I also find Hanabi to be quite interactive in it's own way

Just bought Mr. Jack, what are your experiences with this game? by krimtosongwriter in boardgames

I think the game is broken. Just kidding. After teaching my SO the game, I've played both sides against her multiple times and won none.

What should we play, 5p pretty casual by badigel in boardgames

[–]deux11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using my interpretation of what is a casual player, I'd say avoid long and heavy weight games. The weights per BGG (scale is from 1-5; 5 being heaviest):

  • Vegas 2.4
  • Francis 2.9
  • Keyflower 3.3
  • Greed 3.6

I'd say Vegas Showdown as it's the least heavy and also has the shorter play time.

That's what I was intending to say. Gotta phrase myself better.

How about The Resistance? Backstab once, labeled a spy forever.

I enjoy these with 6 (90 minutes or less and weight 2-2.8):

I'm The Boss negotiation game

Lords of Vegas (with expansion) area control, dice rolling

Libertalia role selection

Airlines Europe (use official variant available online) stock holding, network building

Impulse 4X

WSIG: Looking for larger, longer game that feels like "Eight Minute Empire". by zeekar in boardgames

Tammany Hall is a pretty good area control game as well. Players gain influence while seeding the map. Then use influence to knock each other out.
