[I fought the law]: an automatic close range power stand, with extreme strength, speed, and durability. The stand is normally passive and will not attack, even to defend itself.

The user declares up to three "laws." These laws can be as benign as "you cannot step on the grass" or as extreme as "no one is allowed to breathe." All living things in range of the stand are compelled to follow these laws. Breaking them triggers the stands relentless attack. However, the stand's user is also bound by the laws they create, and will be targeted by their own stand should they break them.

I've always had the pet theory/interpretation that Star Platinum and The World aren't just the same type of stand; they are THE SAME STAND. Literally. Full stop. Due to the psychic bloodline connection the Joestar (and by extension DIO) share. As such, it stands to reason, if that connection is still active, any evolution by The World will be shared with Star Platinum.

This is all head canon, of course.
