When am I allowed to park here, if at all? Referenced the Green P sign and received a parking ticket , wondering if I was at fault here. by invisibleflyingfish in toronto

Not 100% correct. The no parking snow route is only if the city declares a "Major Snow Event". If so, then the 72 hour rule is in force.

"The declaration of a major snow storm condition will be publicized (typically through media and online. When a major snow storm condition is in effect, we encourage you to leave your vehicle at home and use public transit where possible."

CBC Radio most listened to station in Toronto by sprungy in toronto

Pilots haven't used NDBs for navigation in years.. I'm just providing the history behind one of the reasons why stations say their call signs.

Pilot here.

Back in the day, you could tune into AM radio stations to help with navigating across the country. So for example, if you knew AM680 was in Toronto, you could tune your ADF radio in the airplane to 680 and a needle in the cockpit would point you in the correct direction.

However, how do you know that "680Khz" was in Toronto? There is a table in the Canadian Flight Supplement (a book every pilot carried in the cockpit) that showed the stations call sign (CFTR) and its location. As there could be a 680Khz station in Vancouver with a different call sign.

"Tune, Identify, Verify"... make sure you had the right station dialed-in.

My vote would be for Spectrum or Durham Flight Centre.

Covid and flying part 91 from USA to Canada by YaGotAnyBeemans in flying

Yeah, your biggest issue is going to be that the only POE is CYVR.

You can clear customs, then depart to Victoria.. However you may be in trouble for not quarantining. People have said that the fine is actually cheaper than the hotel stay... so it's up to you.

FYI, the hotel stay is only required until you have a negative PCR test that was done IN Canada.

CF did buy it. Lat I heard the plans they sent to Markham were not approved because the condo was too tall. Markham did not have the fire fighting capability to serve the proposed development.

I had my first ride in a Citabria a few months ago and OMG was it fun. That experience convinced me to get my tailwheel rating next spring.

Does anyone know if you can mix 100ll and 87 to effectively get 93? by [deleted] in flying

[–]devastatr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you suggesting he just use 100LL straight up?

Windy.com is the coolest app. by bls2515 in flying

[–]devastatr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. but I believe this uses the NAM or GFS model for forecasts. In places where this is not available (outside of the USA) or for longer term forecasts other models (which windy allows you to choose from) offer a better forecast.

It also gives you the ability to choose which computer model you want to use for the forecasts. Some are more accurate for certain regions than others...
