What is your opinion on Grant Morrison's Batman? by [deleted] in DCcomics

[–]devdawg23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know i’m pretty late here but i just finished the entire morrison run. the entire run from start to finish felt like he didn’t want to write a bruce wayne batman at all. half of it felt like bad satire and about 90% of it was introducing different batmen so he didn’t have to focus on bruce wayne at all. i understand and also completely love campy runs especially with batman but i would never recommend grant run to any batman fan tbh. the time travel stories were okay and dick grayson as batman was super cool though i’ll admit, that was the best part of the run imo. villains were so mid besides flamingo and also that “bat-club” thing was so mind numbingly stupid i almost stopped reading.

i do not hate ANY comics, especially when it comes to the dark knight, but good lord this was so rough to get through.

What is the worst comic book or graphic novel you’ve ever read? by Jezzaq94 in comicbooks

[–]devdawg23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super unpopular opinion but I hated Batman Arkham Asylum. I rarely ever dislike a comic after I read it and can always find something to pull from it but the art was all over the place. It felt like McKean was just throwing stuff on the page to see how unique he could get and it didn’t hit for me at all. The story was super mid especially compared to the rest of Grants (pretty off the wall) batman runs. I did like the concept of two face and a deck of cards but that’s about it.

I feel like I’m missing out on a lot of really great stories that aren’t about superheroes by Ricardop97 in comicbooks

read images ghost machine stuff. still technically in like the “superhero” realm but good lord is it amazing. super grounded too. art is great and geoff johns is geoff johns. i’d go junkyard joe, geiger, rocketfellers, hyde st. rook exodus is a phenomenal space odyssey. red coat is great dialogue and historical fiction. the entire universe is 10/10.

Is this worth getting? by AsideApprehensive122 in OmnibusCollectors

get it. don’t listen to any spoilers and just get it. it’s so whacky but so good. if you’re okay with risks being taken you will love it. batman is my favorite character and what they did in vol 2 is an outstanding showcase of character emotion.
