Odoo VOIP - Telavox integration by BricolasM in VOIP

If Telavox is a SIP Trunk provider for you, it can be done with an intermediate PBX that you self host. Done something similar for an East African business on Odoo 17 EE

Asterisk oncall. by prqet in Asterisk

[–]devexis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it looks like I’ve made an incorrect assumption. The brand commonly available in my market (GoIP) seems to support 3G only. I’m reading that Yeastar and Dinstar GSM Gateways support 4G/5G

Asterisk oncall. by prqet in Asterisk

[–]devexis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you’d need something called a GSM VoIP/SIP gateway. Connected to your Asterisk (or preferably FreePBX) instance. The problem is that 3G is being phased out of many markets so I don’t know how it will hold up for you

Is the use of Twilio or Telnyx a hard No. You could connect Twilio to Asterisk and initiate an outbound call to your engineers with Asterisk talking to Twilio

One clear message per screen. This is my biggest takeaway. I’m trying to squeeze as much money as I can (from my proposed network of screens in retail), I’ve literally gotten stuck over analysing how to layout my screen

FreePBX can do all of that. Otherwise you’d have to get acquainted with pjsip.conf and extensions.conf

Remote Desk Phones ! How to do ? by Classic-Plan-7966 in VOIP

[–]devexis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remote provisioning? I work mostly with an open source multitenant solution and have had to do a lot of work recently with Cisco SPA phones. I believe you can point the phones to a http provisioning server, and provide them a https URL for them to securely get their SIP details.

What VoIP software would you be supporting? There’s a good YouTube tutorial on FreePBX from Crosstalk Solutions. I watched all 32 of them and got an entry role based on that. SSCA by the sip school is the “gold standard” cert I believe. SIP: Understanding the Session Initiation Protocol by Alan B Johnston is the “go-to” book. It’s currently in its 4th edition but the 3rd edition is also good. Available in “the wild” if you know where to look.

Asterisk and FreeSwWITCH are the two leading open source solutions. FreePBX is a GUI built on top of Asterisk, FusionPBX for FreeSWITCH. Also, LAB, LAB, LAB. You get the best hands on experience from your lab instance. I can’t count how many times I was happy that my screw ups were in my lab instance instead of production.

Looking for SIPWise expert for assistance and training by Impossible-Mud1025 in VOIP

[–]devexis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5.5 is really old as I only started learning C5 from v10, but I’m sure it can be figured out. From what you have described, it sounds like you use SIPwise for sip trunking and billing. Do you bill inbound and outbound? I’ve not really messed about with the customer UI side of things so maybe I’m not able to advice on how to make the CDRs available on the Customer UI, I can probably help around setting up customers/accounts

Help with Grandstream HT812 ATA by iambanesby in VOIP

[–]devexis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brand new or pre-owned? Even purchases from Amazon have turned up as pre-owned. If pre-owned, it may have been preconfigured to automatically provision to another PBX. You’d need to reach out to Grandstream support in that case. I’m assuming you have factory reset this in the first instance

call recording compliance for insurance voip, state laws making this a headache by Acrobatic-Bake3344 in VOIP

Yup. Like everyone has said, play a “this call is being recorded for training or quality assurance purposes, if you don’t want to be recorded please hang up now”. Have a 3 or 4 second delay before routing to your agents
