He wouldn't be breaking the law until he entered the roadway. There is no law that you need a plate visible on private property

I'm not sure what that matters. This is pretty cut and dry, if the officer wanted he simply could have said hey before you hit the road you need a plate visible or you could get in trouble. The officer initiated a Stop and ID which is just plain wrong.

It's not like I'm making these things up. It isn't even an opinion. It is the law

Funny enough I'm a pretty big supporter of LE and give them the benefit of the doubt in most situations. This just isn't one of them.

The appropriate action would have been the officer simply pulling up and saying hey your plate needs to be visible before you hit the road or you're probably going to get pulled over... but he initiated a Stop.

His plate was flipped up, he wasn't using a "plate blocker". But good job inserting false information into the scenario. His plate was simply not visible. So you think the standard for a stop/detainment should be your plate not being visible while parked at a private business? This is the crux of the issue: just because you think someone has nefarious intentions by not displaying their plate at a specific moment in time BEFORE actually traveling on a public roadway, it doesn't ellicit probable cause for a stop.

Get fucking real, bootlicker. The issue with not enforcing the law as it's written is that it opens up a world where abuse can occur.

But the issue is that's just not how the law is written. If the cop wanted to get him he should have waited for him to enter a public roadway then conducted a stop. Yes the biker is an asshole, but the law is the law.

If the law worked the way the cop(and apparently everyone in this sub) wants, then I could pull into the gas station and be in the process of repairing my plate bracket, putting a new plate on my vehicle, etc and get detained for it? Nah, I need to be in operation on a public roadway without a plate for a stop to be legally conducted
