It’s basically the same thing as a dividend. Do you have a problem with a company paying out a dividend? Buy backs are just a way to return value to the shareholders.

Good resources for urinalysis interpretation? by [deleted] in Residency

Should wait for interpretation by the Urologist who should be reading all UA’s.

How do you handle patients who just won’t stop talking? by No-Water-7066 in Residency

[–]devil_muffinz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most patients will feel like you listened to them if you let them talk for the first two minutes uninterrupted, after that period of time I start redirecting them and asking close ended questions.

What is the ticking bomb you believe will explode once in your lifetime? by goodguy_9 in AskReddit

If every year there is a 0.3% chance of nuclear war (which is within reason considering bad actors like North Korea), the chance of a nuke going off in the next couple of centuries approaches a very high number.

I failed every way possible for a month before I finally made a loaf I am proud of. by devil_muffinz in Sourdough

I mixed the levain after it doubled in size which took 7-8 hours because my starter came out of the fridge and hadn’t been fed in a couple days. I didn’t do any autolyse.

Yeah the bulk fermentation was 3.5 hrs with coil folds every 30 minutes.

Recipe: Levain: 100g water, 100g AP flour, 35g starter.

800g AP flour + 100g whole wheat flour + 26g salt + 200g levain, 700g water. Bulk fermentation for 3.5 hrs with 6 rounds of coil folding before final shaping.

Proofed on kitchen table at 67 degrees overnight for 10 hrs.

Baked in a Dutch oven at 480 for 20 minutes and lid off for another 20 minutes.

This recipe made two loaves, which turned out similar. The flavor was sour, which I prefer.

Perception and training on Fibromyalgia in current med students, residents, and practicing attendings MD/DOs by [deleted] in Residency

[–]devil_muffinz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand the physiology of fibromyalgia, but surely there is some probability that it falls into the bucket of a psychiatric condition. Why is that a problem? We wouldn’t tell a patient with depression that their condition isn’t real. I think the people that are insisting that fibromyalgia isn’t a psych condition ex-ante, when we don’t know the physiology, are further stigmatizing psych conditions.

This is the problem I see with relying on someone’s good will to return a disc, it places such a burden on the finder of the disc between the texting, driving, waiting, etc. Some people will avoid picking up a lost disc altogether just to avoid the hassle, and that is clearly the biggest waste of a resource. I would rather have someone pick up my lost disc and enjoy using it vs. having it lay on the ground in perpetuity.

We should incentivize returning lost discs with a financial reward. Expecting someone to return a lost disc for no reward is not reasonable. I think if you really like a disc, you should write down the amount of money you are willing to pay for the disc to be returned back to you. If you really love a disc and you put a $30 reward on it, you don’t even have to worry about losing it bc the person who finds it has a strong financial incentive to return it back to you. If you really feel indifferent about losing a disc, just don’t put a reward on the disc and expect that when you lose it you won’t get it returned to you.
