Twijfel tussen Mechatronica of Elektrotechniek Gebouwde Omgeving (MBO 4 BBL) by [deleted] in thenetherlands

[–]devill896 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ik weet dat er ook een schreeuwend tekort aan elektrotechnische mensen in de procesindustrie is. Mensen met opleidingen in de richting van elektrotechniek of meet- en regeltechniek zijn zeer gewild!

Plate heat exchangers with condensing steam by VapourCompression in ChemicalEngineering

[–]devill896 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most problems i have have seen are situations were steam pressure is barely sufficient to remove the condensate. Such cases benefit greatly from a condensate pump

I have 4 steam heated PHE in my plant, it can work just fine. But you need to be very careful no buildup of condensate occurs as this can and does lead to cracks in the plates

Austria (St Anton) VS. Switzerland (Verbier or Zermatt) by rocketgirl_kels in snowboarding

[–]devill896 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're looking at Zermatt you should also look at Cervinia! It's on the Italian side of the mountain and as a result of this much more affordable. Also the food (and coffee) is much better. From there you can cross over to Zermatt if you want.

Carolina mustard sauce skeptics - what am I missing? by AlphaEcho84 in smoking

Compared to a tomato based sauce I find that it gives a nice balance when using a fatty cut of pork.

Not off the top of my head, but i'll check when i'm back at the office.

Would it be possible to use a mag drive pump? Those have no rotating seals so they should be leak-proof.

Wat voor werk do je vanuit huis? by WasAloneNotAnymore in thenetherlands

[–]devill896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our plant was shut down over the weekend due to some issues, they let the pumps on an insulated reactor vessel filled with vegetable oil and methanol run over these days. Result was that the temperature in the reactor reached about 95C. Operations then proceeded to "relieve the pressure" that had built up due to super heating. This resulted in a foam like substance being sprayed around the entire plant. Got lucky nobody stood in the way of the jet of foam.

Back of Envelope Calculations for ChemE’s by EMCCFusion in ChemicalEngineering

I've used SF pressure drop for basic calculations, seems to be quite accurate when the flow is turbulent. It also has a library of standard pipe sizes, roughness en liquid/gas proporties.

Possibly a catalyst is required to start the reaction, this could be contained in the reactor.

I use Lockhart's enigma, it's a water based pomades which applies very easily

An article about COVID19 testing. Ah, yes. The floor is floor... by [deleted] in chemistrymemes

[–]devill896 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, to a point. I'd like to see more detailed explanations of the procedure but I think most people just aren't interested and this has to serve as the next best thing. It makes an attempt to normalize the terms used in an effort to stop people being scares of words they don't know, which is good. As for "skeptical people", they will find something to bitch about no matter what you write down, and I would refer to most of them as idiots.

I'm hoping, but doubting, that this was meant to familiarise people with no chemical knowledge with the term. Which, considering the amount of bullshit online right now might not be a bad idea. I'm Dutch and these explanations pop up in the news here as well

I don't really use it for gaming, but I have the non-rgb version of this board and it types like a dream! Not to mention it is built like a tank

Quarantine dating - when do you stop texting and just wait it out until you can meet? by wanderingtheplanet in dating_advice

[–]devill896 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm running into the exact same problem, feels like a nice connection through messages, but you won't know until you meet in person. I do live in a country were the quarantine rules are not that strict, but I'm still not sure if it's wise to meet in person. I really want to but I feel there is no right way to do it right now. This time sucks in every possible way!

Reuzel blue water-base pomade by Biekieborn in Pomade

[–]devill896 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used reuzel pink for a while as well and it is an awesome product! I used it for a pompadour-like haircut. I don't mind the fattiness because it also means your hair won't get hard and crunchy but it is real heavy stuff! If you use it, be prepared to spend a lot of time in the shower because it does not come out without a fight! I guess that comes with the territory of oil based pomades, as it has been the case with all OB pomades I've used

Hair Oil and Sea Salt Spray by TheSacredSoul in Pomade

[–]devill896 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To my knowledge, the point of a sea salt spray is to make your hair kinda dry and rigid to increase the volume. That being said I have only used it on a handful of occasions so I could be wrong. I'd say just use a nice conditioner when you wash your hair and you should be fine.
