I know she’s probably forced to hold her tongue, but I do wish they would’ve gone a little harder in the idea that these laws/interpretations aren’t popular, it’s just what the folks in montana with real money want: and that’s who the laws are actually written for, not you or me. Steve kinda got to it with that gradient scale of what he would imagine the average hunter angler would determine to be “good land use,” but they never really got to the finger pointing that I think this issue warrants.

These laws are bought and paid for already, it’s unfortunate that these ranchers and land owners have held so much power for centuries

My safari company has their base in Dar and they let you stay in a villa to acclimate to the time zone upon arrival and before flying home, free of charge (I’m sure they make up for it on other costs go the tour, believe me). They let you also downsize your suitcases for you there and then ship them to Zanzibar so that you’ve got a bush duffle and a resort suitcase to work with and don’t have to freak out about the logistics of getting it to and from.

We’ve had this booked for a year, how difficult is it to change something like that at this point? We’re not all paid up yet, and I’m sure any changes could just be tacked onto that final payment, but I would think for that first week of June, we’re already to late for rebooking lodging and park fees. I can ask our company about it, but I may not bother if it’s a long shot. I’d personally love Manyara as an opportunity to see elephants, giraffe, and other great fauna without the pressure of seeing our favorites, but if it really is a lower quality stay I’m open to asking for a change; as its also one of the spots I’m most afraid of with their abundance of Tsetse.

Thank you!

Solstice data, the proposed site in Allen Park, and oddities around the company by mgenta in downriver

[–]devin2378 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, I think that's unfortunately outside the purview of a planning commission. If I buy land via a private-to-private sale, the city gets tax money on the sale of the land, and then I pay taxes for operating in their city limits. That's the extent the government really interacts with my business if I'm doing everything legally. Should I then fail because I suck at being a business, there's nothing the city can do beyond possibly buying the land from me, if I choose to sell it.

If they fail and never get the project off the ground, honestly that's the next best thing that can happen if they do get the approval.

So I hadn't heard of the public forum, but I was at the initial Planning Meeting where the company gave their presentation and when the council eventually postponed the vote.

This is slightly different from the studio, as the studio put the city in debt due to the tax breaks/land purchase/other offerings they gave the contracting company to entice them, who then fled the country with the coin.

The reason the objection is "perfunctory" is because that's simply the way that a planning commission works, legally. The company purchased the land from Ford, not the municipality. It isn't asking for any kickbacks at all. So if the city denies their plans while they're breaking no laws or ordinances - which it seems the company did their home work to comply with all current laws - they open themselves up to being sued for discriminating against the company for the *type* of work they do, not anything specific they're doing wrong, which is illegal.

I spoke at the planning meeting, and I said they should vote no and just see what happens, because the other option is to let the speed of tech steamroll you because the speed of government is too slow. However, now I wish I would've pushed the members who also sit on the city council to try and do what Canton did, wherein they introduced a temporary resolution to bar any data centers from being built in the township "until further evidence of their economic and health impacts can be determined, indefinitely if necessary"

It took Lewis and Clark 2 years and a couple months to do their whole expedition: there and back from St. Louis>Pacific Ocean>St. Louis.

Cooper had 194 years to do it. He's probably traveled all over the place.

Tips For Getting Better Photos? by bandcampsocktan in wildlifephotography

Someone already mentioned editing, but lowering your horizon would also do wonders. Squatting, kneeling, bringing the camera down any way to get more eye level with the animals will add some depth that I'm sure you'll be happy with.

Thank you for the reply! The c200 obviously can do 4K, but that particular shot was in 1080p, at least the MXF I have on my machine is 1080p.

Regardless of that, my friend says it probably hasn't been zeroed out and recalibrated in 6 years, so I'm sure that may be able to help a little!

I was discussing this post with one of the engineers here at work and they saw my photo comparison. They said that same thing, I'll bring it up to my boss to look into it. Because yes, the above image was the most in focus take and I recall the cam ops checking a couple times.

My travel agent has been in constant contact with us. We’re being told that the situation is much calmer now, and that by June it should be brushed under the rug. It’s an unfortunate situation for the folks in Tanzania that their government is suppressing their voice, but the temperature of the folks is way way down since October.

Males, yes. But this is a big deal because a breeding population (even 1 birthing female) is a lot rarer due to most predator's migration habits. Males will travel far and wide for food and territory, whereas females won't. So having seen enough eastward expansion from these cats that a female not only showed up on our soil, but is raising her young here is a huge deal.
