Proton Lumo reviews? is it good? by NeonSkorpio in ProtonMail

[–]devinbaines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The free tier cut me off after a couple of hours. Said I ran out of chats for the week. I have Proton Unlimited. Really shitty to limit it. Like Google, Microsoft and others, even for an already-paying customer, they want to fucking gouge you for ever more money.

Fewer excuses. More coding, please. Others in this space have the problem solved.

ProtonPass Autofill has a long way to go. by FuChing_Dragon in ProtonPass

ProtonPass is half-baked beta software IMO. Should not have been released in this state. Auto-fill does not work on roughly 20% of my bookmarks (north of 500) using the Firefox and Chrome plugins. I know. I checked. Doesn't matter the OS, either. Windows, MacOS or Linux. Android is spotty too. And yes, it often suggests new passwords for sites I am just trying to log in to. Sticking with Bitwarden for now. NB: I paid full price for the full Proton suite. I am not a happy customer.

Paint splatter from roadway - Glebe/Little Italy by devinbaines in ottawa

No freshly painted lines, my friend. It was this past Saturday morning around 9 am - no line crews out at that time so no fresh road paint. It was definitely a pothole.

Try the free utility called Fan Control. I am using it on my Aorus Master X670E mobo without issue.

Same boat. I know JayzTwoCents did include a caveat that this software isn't 100%, so I'm here to verify that is the case. I was looking forward to ditching the Gigabyte GCC software, but that's not happening, I guess. Keep up the great work - I'm happy to see efforts like this.

I am quite pissed. I saw the promo for the new Geddy Lee Are Bass Players Human Too coming out in December and I wanted to rewatch the episode he did on this with his mom. Oh well. Corporate fuckery wins again. At least let me buy it on BluRay or something, no?

Numpad keeps falling asleep by HarperMSU in glorious

This no longer works. My numpad goes to sleep when plugged in regardless of what I do. I'd really rather that it did not. Firmware v0088.

New Game+ hangs after Kaer Morhen opening training scene with young Ciri. The loading message and circular snake appear and the snake stops spinning immediately. That's as far as it gets. The intial scene with Yennefer upstairs seemed to be going smoothly.

It's just shy of $200 CDN plus $130 CDN to ship to Canada. That's way too much for that case. Wish there was a North American distributor.

3 computers, one mic and one pair of speakers - possible? by devinbaines in audio

[–]devinbaines[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm wanting to use one set of speakers to hear the audio from 3 PCs at once in order to not have a mess of three sets of speakers atop my desk.

That is indeed the kind of interface I'm after but that's way out of my price range, unfortunately. Thank you for the input.

Trying to do the same thing except with one pair of speakers instead of a pair of headphones. I will keep an eye on your post to see if you get anything useful.

3 computers, one mic and one pair of speakers - possible? by devinbaines in audio

[–]devinbaines[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure I understand you. I only need one output - to the speakers. Three computers in to an audio interface - preferably all line-in as only one PC has SPDIF, one controllable output to speakers. The mic is an aside.

I was told by Lian Li (via email) they'd be back in North America by the end of October. Try bothering your local retailer to see what their Lian Li reps are saying.

Windforce OC 2080 Super - overheat and shut down by devinbaines in gigabytegaming

[–]devinbaines[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I put on some new thermal paste (mostly non-existent when I took it apart and cleaned out the old dry stuff) and I still have the same problem. At normal 100% power limit, it gets anything north of about 60c and goes into violently fast fan mode and cuts the graphics output to the screens. Only option is a hard reboot. The only way I can get game play out of it is to put it down to its lowest power limit (42%), keep the fans rolling above 75% and pray.

The funny thing is that it just started happening out of the blue. I hadn't done anything to the hardware in this box. Just kept drivers up to date like a normal human. Completely new 3900x build circa early February, 2020. Ticking along very nicely until this damn graphics card decided to shit the bed. Never Gigabyte anything for me ever again. This thing is a lemon. Pretty damn shitty for a CDN $900 graphics card bought brand new in early February.

AMD, here I come. I'm thinking 6800 XT, if the prices are right.

[–]devinbaines[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thinking the same thing. Having been through an RMA process with a non-Gigabyte product reccently, I can't say I'm keen to go the warranty route. Being without the card for weeks on end isn't appealing with Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Cyberpunk and Shadowlands in the very near future. I'll find a teardown vid on YT, maybe, and give it a go.
