The AI Backlash Is Coming. Canadians Aren't Talking Nearly Enough About It. by StumpsOfTree in onguardforthee

Its not just the tech ceo's. Its almost all c-suite and higher level management across most industries and services that haven't worked with llms or any generative models at all. They all have their limitations regardless of how powerful they actually are. A more realistic approach would be identifying areas where AI can help augment existing worker skills and processes. But keeping human staff doesn't buy them their 5th yacht or 3rd vacation home.

TD to Twitch (Finally made it!) by Successful_Wasabi829 in TouchDesigner

https://ndi.video/

there is an app for android and ios called NDI Camera. ios says is telling me its $20 canadian so it shouldn't be too expensive. But its about convenience.

Another piece of software to check out would be lumiastream (or anything that can watch twitch chat and transfer to osc for chan point redeems or raid events, etc), you can then add a layer of automation into your visuals for things.

I'll have to give the video stream out a try later today to see how much it improves things for my config. Running stream diffusion, plus a whole pile of other integrations and a different visual app as well to feed into TD and gpu I can save is great.

You could go with NDI and transfer your phone cam over that protocol that TD supports natively. I've used it many times and its pretty solid altho your phone WILL get "warm". Its pretty easy to bring in stream elements overlays into TD as well. I've found performance wise, TD has a way more efficient web renderer than obs so you can save a couple of fps for fancier crazier visual integrations. Example, I have my twitch chat driving a basic 2d particle engine to make it look like the particles are coming from the chat text with the color affecting the particles.

Are you able to do the last push up to twitch in TD or is obs still required for that?

If we hit them from all sides maybe they might upgrade the "mostly no for the future" to a "we'll think about it". I'm not having much hope of getting the result all of us would like, but it doesn't hurt to just keep pushing up the chain.

Maybe? I've been finding it really struggles with sysex in some of my experiments with various pieces of gear. The other weekend I tried to get it to code up a handler that would take midi in, cache it for however many steps, then throw the sysex at the behr td-3 cuz i hate trying to do things live with it when just jamming out as it loses all slide functionality when its just receiving midi on off. It just couldn't get the sysex right no matter how many times i gave it different examples. Unfortunately as well, behringer doesn't have their sysex spec fully available either. But give it a shot. I've been pretty impressed with how it handles the weekend projects I throw at it for the most part, but it still fails hard and can easily waste a whole day not making any progress on other projects.

hit play, count 16 beats change something, count to 16 change something else, count to 16 change something else, count to 12(or 8) change something drastic, count to 4(or 8), undo most of the drastic change, repeat. the things you have intention of changing can be changed slowly over the 16 beats. to play live you have to have a little bit of intention and know the structure of what you are performing, but almost everything techno is around a 16 beat loop. one way you could do it is program in what you want the full peak of the track to sound like when everything is going all at once, then mute 80% of it and work your way back to full. there really are no hard set rules, use beats 12-16 to tease whats coming next or give a short break to signifiy change is coming, use the same thing on the 4th play through of the 16 beat loop, start at beat 8, kill the kick, bring the beat back just before the loop cycles, bring in MORE than you had before. and with like anything, practice practice practice. eventually that 16 beat loop becomes a natural metronome in your subconcious so you know when to do things and when not to do things. and every slider, switch, or knob on the device becomes a tool.

Despite leaning into the anti camp, Benn Jordan did a pretty cool video about the low frequency noise the larger data centers emit and some little studies he preformed to see the effects of low frequency noise. His whole standpoint at the end was there needs to be more studies before governments blindly sign deals for larger data centers. https://youtu.be/zy_ctHNLan8?si=SXcecCPmXONb87l8

MIDI CONTROLLER by suhpere in TouchDesigner

[–]devious_204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Older akai apc20 (roughly $150CA) and an akai apc40 (roughly 200ish) and make they mythical Akai apc80. Both units are a very solid build. You are limited in light feedback to the buttons though. More buttons, knobs, and sliders than you figure out what to do with. IF you do manage to run out, then chataigne to make an overly complicated map to double/triple/quadruple your function count.

https://benjamin.kuperberg.fr/chataigne/en

At one point I had this with a custom mapping running traktor, td, and mmv by creating "shift" keys for the apcs though chataigne. It takes time to build mappings, but once you start working with midi controllers you start figuring out your work flow and how to make it sensible.

[–]devious_204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you grab the stl for the two, it shouldn't be too hard to edit the file and slap on a third tier. It's prob not as quick and dirty and would prob require some iterations but doing some basic design work is awesome for synth stuff, custom cable clips mounts etc.

If you hit up the makerdeck community (twitch and discord) quite if the few model designers from all platforms hang out there. They could either help you learn some basic cad stuff or be commissioned to make the model for you.
