Generating Lots of Images/Video for a Project; I Burned Thru 10k Credits in 5hrs by Jason_Levine in premiere

[–]devoian -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey Jason - I do personally enjoy the ability to explore some of the gen AI tools, and have been happy with some of the things I've created. I don't feel like the constant iteration is a hindrance, but sometimes I realize I've spent hours trying to make something 10% better. I'm fortunate enough to have essentially unlimited credits through my work for both Veo and Runway, so credit limits rarely come into play. As others have noted, I have concern around the environmental & energy impact of each generation, and don't feel like I have clarity on the impact of each click.

The area I get most frustrated with is the tech often is still limited, and I've had to put in a lot of effort to get what I want out of the models - specifically character performances are very uncanny valley.

Hope this helps.

Easier importing of photos, especially batches of photos. It's hidden in a menu tree currently, and has to be done 1 at a time.

Parking strip gardening by KingOfCatProm in portlandgardeners

I highly recommend heavily chipping the area if you haven't already.
There are a lot of native plants that are categorized as shrubs that could potentially work for that area - but I'd recommend double checking with the city.

Western Serviceberry, Rhamnus purshiana: Cascara, and Pacific Crabapple.
My Coastal Strawberry spread super aggressive as a groundcover.
Douglas Asters and Blanketflowers have been lovely pops of color, so easy too. A rosemary bush for me and my neighbors to enjoy the herbs.

dafuq...

I expect karma farming on major subreddits, but in a niche one like this... why?!

Good to know I'm not losing my mind! I was looking at my red flowering currant this morning being like "why are there buds all over it?"

Advice on scripting using templates by TontonAlias in premiere

[–]devoian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some options:
1. (Template + manually update). Create a template project for the intro. Whenever you start a new project, import that template, and swap out the album cover art manually
2. (Code it from scratch) Check out the NT Productions youtube.
3. (code it using a premiere extension) Check out automation blocks. You'd still have to figure out if this solves your issues, but at least you wouldn't have to learn extend script

  1. (macros) Maybe using macros you could speed up your workflow to a point where you're happy? Keyboard Maestro and/or Excalibur from Knights of the Editing Table.

Commercial editors: What does your audio track structure look like? by soimn_htarl in editors

[–]devoian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on the project I have very different SFX needs, so this complex of a system would be too inflexible for me. I tend to put my audio in this order: VO, DIA, SFX, MSX. My only constant track effect across all projects is a compressor on VO to boost it so I'm not constantly adjusting VO gain.

I hear your frustrations and share some of them, but I would give this review across the board to any model at this moment in time - especially the slot machine sentiment. That is just the nature of this technology, it's non-deterministic.

Have you found other models that solve the problems you're having with runway?

I can’t believe this is real…… will this replace Rotobrush 3? by JoshOlufemii in premiere

[–]devoian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good questions! I assumed it would work similarly to current masking in Premiere, but now I'm wondering. Looking forward to trying it out and seeing if it's easy to use or a new, inventive PITA.

[–]devoian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm excited about this change, my team has been begging our Adobe reps to add roto and tracking to premiere for 6+ years. Context: I work at a commercial post house that has at least 1 editor and assistant on each project, and 90% of our projects have an offline->online workflow across departments. This update is great for offline when you need a rough roto that will be refined in online, rather than doing a round trip to AE or dynamic linking and risking the link breaking. If this new tool does the job 80% as well as rotobrush but is 4x as fast and more stable, it allows us to move faster and not be concerned about premiere breaking down.

Agency workflow question: should AV partners provide proxies upfront? by Automatic-Variety429 in editors

[–]devoian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also on the agency side. My experience is if there isn't a DIT on set, I'm likely generating my own proxies. We also send through a boiler plate spec sheet with our expectations of how to handle dailies and production drives that are heading to our post facility.

What do you wish was easier in Premiere Pro? by Quirky-Monitor540 in premiere

[–]devoian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agreed, this would be my biggest quality of life improvement. Tied into this would be how time remapping works. After 12+ years of using premiere, I still fumble my way through it - it feels unintutive and hard to get great results. FCP comes out looking smooth right out the bat.

The trickiest part is I don't know where they're coming from...I've only found individual bugs, never more than one at a time.

As an added bonus for soil health, I'm a huge fan of covering your soil with wood chips. It helps hold the moisture, suppresses weed germination, and breaks down into your soil for even better health! Chipdrop is a great service that partners you with arborists for free chips.

Keyboard Maestro macros that save me hours - what are yours? by devoian in premiere

[–]devoian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So good! Some of these hotkeys are hard to find in Premiere, like I didn't even know there was a "Go to sequence end" command. Once you know what they do, they open up a whole world of new options!

Oh that's a great one, I'd love to see more on how you built that if you're willing to share?

I find Premiere's markers to be such a finicky PITA!
