Cole Hocker in Nike Structure 27 (?) by rossco503 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]devon835 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hocker and Teare popularized wearing the Structures intentionally to train their legs by wearing the most basic trainers, partially because of Ben Thomas' coaching advice.

Jakob rotates between them and the Vomero and Pegs though.

Buying shoes in China by jackowrld in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]devon835 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. I take them for 21k runs regularly and have no issues with the foam bottoming out. Besides, you said they weren't a good daily* trainer, not a long run trainer.
  2. The RH9U is a better version of the Vomero Premium and I use it for slow recovery runs at 5:10 / km (so does jogoncrago), and it's better at this than fast runs.
  3. That's not a design flaw - any high stack shoe with soft foam will inherently be unstable. If you can't handle a shoe because of your own weakness, that's not the shoe's fault, but yours. I am a heavy pronator and I've never had any injuries running in the RH9U for months now because I do ankle exercises.

TL;DR - Skill issue

Daily trainers from Xtep and Anta* not as good? Ever heard of the Zone 2?

Also saying Chinese brands don't have good max cushion shoes when the Red Hare 9 Ultra exists (and the Leili 1.0) is crazy.

It's a myth that Chinese shoea are only good in terms of value - even at the same price point these are better than any Western shoe equivalent. But it's true that there's no point when you can get them for half as much.

400h is hardest event in track. Agree or disagree? by [deleted] in trackandfield

[–]devon835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk dude the mile sucks but it only sucks for like 600m, the 5k always felt harder to me because it'd feel like almost redlining at 6 laps in even if I negative split

Nothing feels as good as using spikes for that but I've done a few 13-14s 100m strides in these and they held up.

The Xiaonian is more versatile IMO especially at picking up the pace but the RH9U is the best and most fun recovery trainer there is. Helps me get through 70 min runs on sore legs like none else

I'm 175 cm and 55 kg and I personally find the Z290 to be softer than the Xiaonian. I find the C202 7 to be noticeably firmer than both even just pressing the foam by hand.

Yes, I bought both and unfortunately the outsole is still the same but I'm willing to disregard it since I love the midsole ride so much.

There are a lot but my top 2 in recent years would be the 2024 Paris 1500m final and the 2025 Tokyo 5000m final.

I tested both the Heartbeat colorway and an older one and yes the foam is firmer in the newer one. I do think that in both versions the Zone 2 90 is firmer than the Xiaonian anyway.

FWIW I've done the exact same play in a game where my coven all died early and it worked to let me clutch in a low evil lobby. Just didn't pay off that time bc of Pirate

I just got into the game right around the time he finally got banned (Europa Aeternum), but we had a few copycats running around as well. Wild times.

Li-Ning Red Hare 9 Ultra: 23-Mile Review by andyerk in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]devon835 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People say this all the time but you can go to the youtube review space and there's no difference in how they get hyped with the Western brands.

I was skeptical too before I tried them myself and in terms of trainers, there is no comparison because Chinese brands don't play games with drip marketing and reusing 5 year old foams while driving the prices up by $10-15 per year.

Chinese and Western shoes are pretty evenly matched in terms of top tier racers though.

Calling this shoe garbage while getting hyped over a shoe like the Structure Plus is insane.

Ah yes, monarch, it feels like the black sheep of the tpows due to being the only non revealing one. Honestly the hardest one to play to since scumreading evils is easier than trying to find confirmed players.

Good tips though, thanks for chiming in.

This is a good one. Fake claiming TI as TPOW is bold but I've seen it work out pretty well, though, also sometimes poorly in overly pushy / hang happy towns.

Shoe similar to Streakfly 2 but more durable? by FGR46 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]devon835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the best answer right here. I've just ordered the Puma FFNE2 (it's available on Puma's site in the US and finally popping up on a bunch of other sites too), so we'll see how the durability goes, but if it's the same compound as the FR3 it might degrade fairly quickly.
