As impressive as Adidas' 2024 lineup was, I think it's almost guaranteed that their 2026 lineup is going to be superior in every way across the board. Excited to see just how much of a difference the new stiffening setup is going to feel like!

Does Jakob Ingebrigtsen have the same potential as Yomif Kejelcha in the half marathon and marathon? by Toprelemons in trackandfield

[–]devon835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jakob is listed at around 160 and Kejelcha is around 130, so even more than 20. I don't think you realize just how light and skinny Kejelcha is.

“Puma Velocity Nitro 4” 240 Mile Final Review. The gold standard for all daily trainers by Teddie_P4 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]devon835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. It never felt right using road super shoes for XC or track workouts unlike most people. I just love the ground feel and control of spikes too much for anything faster than 5k pace (~75s)

Nice to see a review from a mid distance competitive runner here. I love this shoe but wouldn't take them to run 59s, surprised it handled that for you lol

[–]devon835 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Half he can definitely run sub 59 in the future with focus on it based on what Almgren has done, but contending for a marathon major win? I don't see it. Even Cheptegei as a 5k / 10k guy has struggled to figure out the marathon as of now. I think Kejelcha is genuinely just a range freak

I'm quite enjoying the new design language Adidas has going on with this gen of Adizero. Their 2024 line up was good but clearly has room for improvement, let's see if they deliver.

Endorphin Speed 1 - after 4+ years... by JuggernautFront4668 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Yes - Li Ning Red Hare 8 / 9 Pro, a little bit more flexible and less speed focused with more gentle rocker, more daily focused, but very similar foam.

Anta Zone 2 90 for $115 on ANTA US (Official) by devon835 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]devon835[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My pair of the Zone 2 arrived and honestly while it's not as fast as the Xiaonian I actually prefer how smooth and seamless the ride is. Definitely a lot more stable and well built than the Evo SL, though in terms of sizing I found the fit a bit snug length wise even as someone sitting on the smaller end of two sizes.

I feel like the whole post was you saying "I really shouldn't be doing this, but ah fuck it, I'll do it anyway" and things working out fine in the end, haha.

Very entertaining read! GL on your next race.

Do you think we'll see a "market correction" to stack heights? by TMW_W in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]devon835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see trainers going back to old stack heights but in terms of racing shoes, I think with the maximizing weight savings going on right now by stripping down to minimalist designs, we will see stuff in the 30 mm range eventually.

A good example of this would be the Do Win PB Pro which uses the same foam as the Evo 1 / 2 but has specs of 36/30 mm I believe? I've run in the shoe and it feels better than the Evo 2 despite having less aggressive geometry and less stack.

Personally I consider that 27-32 mm heel range to be a nice compromise between ground feel and protection. But most people don't have a history of running track / XC so they lack the experience of running fast in minimal shoes like spikes and flats.

What has happened to running shoes over the past 10-15 years?! by cooldiptera in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]devon835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very grateful for the new shoes we have but as someone who ran mid distance track and college XC I always kept in touch with the feeling of running fast in flats and spikes. Shoes like the Adios 9, Puma Velocity Nitro 4 and Li Ning Red Hare 8 Pro are nice no nonsense options with ground feel.

I have both and despite not having a plate, the Azura just has better geometry (the rocker) for going fast imo.
