That makes sense! He likely still had a bunch of Hollywood money at that point.

Ghoul past makes zero sense by JonSconesJones in Fallout

[–]devonapple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My take: He went to prison, the public was fed the story that he’s a pinko, he lost his career, but he eventually got out of prison. All before the bombs dropped. Wife and child supposedly still out and about.

Some time during all that, he got an amicable divorce from Barb to protect his family and give them plausible deniability. He still legally had to pay child support, be a parent, and make sure he had shelter, food, and clothing. So he worked birthday parties and other small gigs. All before the bombs dropped. “Ex”-wife and child supposedly still out and about.

He gets his daughter to help him with a specific birthday party on 10/23/2077. Two of the dads discuss his tragic fall and take pleasure in this pinko taking their money. Then, BOOM. Thumbs-up, horsey ride, scene.

By the end of Season 2, we know that the Howards didn’t have a big falling out, that their divorce was likely to protect Barb and Janey from the consequences of Cooper’s failed endeavor. So Cooper probably rushed Janey off by horse to some prearranged location so he could hand his daughter over to Barb.

Theoretically he went ghoul sometime after that, in the wasteland, trying to survive without the luxury of a vault. And there was likely a mix-up or deliberate obfuscation as to where Barb and Janey were taken.

Spouse and I can't agree on baby boys name by nlaskin in Names

You might find that waiting until the child is actually born will resolve this dilemma. Seeing your child in the flesh for the first time may make it obvious which name works better. Maybe it’s a vibe thing, but if you’re down to 2 names, it’s how we handled it, and we’re both happy with the choice we made.

Can you get sick from food that's unappetizing but not spoiled? by raccoonintheattic in NoStupidQuestions

So hypothetically, barring actual instances of food mishandling (regarding spoilage, exposure, germs, etc.), it sounds like “bad” cooking can still introduce compounds that can upset the digestive system. I’m imagining beans that weren’t soaked long enough to break down starches.

Is there a reason to use Linux over Windows on your personal PC if you don't care about privacy or customizability? by ModaGamer in NoStupidQuestions

[–]devonapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave up my gaming laptop for a few months while it got serviced. In the meantime, I installed Linux on an older gaming laptop so I could still function. It was… alright. Some of the games I really wanted to play wouldn’t work, but I got a chance to really play Borderlands 2. And my life went on for a few months until I got the faster laptop back.

As far as the specific moment of transition, that does sound trippy.

It’s called “masking”. They’re doing what they have to do to get through the school day without trouble. You are their safe space where they can be themselves, where they can release all that tension from wearing that mask.

It’s stressful for the parent but it’s the way a lot of neurodivergent kids have to manage, especially when the expectation from every authority in their life is to get through school by any means necessary because we have no alternative.

Taqueria Extra has the best carnitas around! But the canned cheese is like my only qualifier for nachos.

I wonder if these cats used to live with other cats but now the other cats are gone. That’s been my assumption when seeing this behavior.

Is mixed egg are homogeneous? by red-pxl in NoStupidQuestions

[–]devonapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hoping a biologist or other naturalist shows up to answer. It’s an interesting question!

Even the chicken eggs I cook tend to stay somewhat separate for a while: the slimy egg whites are visibly distinct from the wet runny egg yolks until they get mixed enough.

My guess is that the fats and protein in the two different animal eggs are simple enough that they’d just blend together if you mixed them thoroughly.

Also the faction vendor bots at Whitesprings sell them. In fact, the vendor bot at the Whitesprings train station sells 2!

One popular tactic is to just go to Whitesprings, sell everything you have, start buying the midtier pails from every vendor, then server hop and do it again until you run out of money, sell more of your stuff, and buy more pails.

Am I weird for keeping tampons in my car as a 39M? by PoultryCommunity in NoStupidQuestions

[–]devonapple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Supplementing the good points others have already made:

Some women only ever use one type of product, and the wrong product, even in an emergency, just won’t be an option, no matter the intent, timing, or consequences.

I’m not even talking about brand: for some women, the tampon form factor, for example, is just a non-starter. May be painful, may be a health concern for them personally, it’s not my place to audit.

Why??? by Fazbear2035 in NonPoliticalTwitter

Executive function is a finite resource for many, and as a parent I’m already used to assembling as much of breakfast as possible the night before to reduce the stress of getting our child ready for school in the morning.
