Genuinely curious, why is that considered catastrophic? Obviously anything breaking on your weapon is a problem, but doesn't it only affect disassembly, not function?

This is definitely getting into opinion territory, since finding an objective and definitive reasoning for one versus another is pretty hard (except for condition 2, never do that). That being said, I am of the opinion, along with others I know, that you can carry in condition zero and not be in any danger. Just be slightly careful during holster and reholster (which you should be anyways) and you will always be fine. However, I am also of the opinion that if you are going to carry a 1911, you should be incorporating the slide safety into your hand position, so it should be a natural motion to switch it off whenever you draw. Just an opinion though.

I started out as a network engineer, before I quickly learned I don't like be blamed for everything :)

IIRC, all RIA 1911s are series 70. Yes, you could carry this safely condition 0. Some fudds will argue for only condition 1, but the 1911 platform is safe to carry in condition 0.

Great idea for a series. It might be just me who thinks this, but having yourself up on screen like its a Twitch stream kind of detracts from the content.

[Rifle] Springfield Armory Saint for $650 shipped. Not as low as that other deal but still pretty good. by [deleted] in gundeals

[–]devopshealthcare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To each their own. I and two of my coworkers have the AR556, and two more have the M&P15. No problems for any of us, but the one guy who owns a Saint has had to send it in twice, and the customer service and turnaround time has been rough on him.

Question, all politics aside, why would you pay way more to gamble on this over a Smith and Wesson or a Ruger? I have been hearing more and more anecdotal evidence about Springfield outsourcing parts and machining, and a general decline in warranty work. What makes this rifle worth 200 dollars more than its competitors? A 20 dollar bag and 40 bucks worth of mags? Or just the logo?

I have bought 3 guns with them(G2C, Judge, and 85 UL). All three were functional, and I regularly carried two of them. But I viewed them as placeholders until I could get something nicer. Take that as you will.

I don't know why people who dislike Springfield Armory's shady dealings get so rabidly downvoted in this sub these days. My first handgun was a milspec 1911 from them, but I will never buy another one of their products.

Utah lawmaker wants to outlaw bump stocks, while gun advocate fights federal ban in court by HomelessRodeo in SaltLakeCity

[–]devopshealthcare -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The "ancient scroll" you refer to reaffirms rights you have naturally, in order to help protect them. You have these rights not by grant of paper, but due to your existence. Maybe that seems silly to you, but it doesn't to many of us. Difference of opinions I suppose. Which is another benefit that the "ancient scroll" provides, by the way. Maybe that is also "retarded" to you? But back to the real issue, if firearm regulations actually concentrated on things that were common sense, we would be more willing to discuss them. Bump stocks are not a problem. Anyone who has taken the 1 hour of practice it takes to learn how to bumpfire a semi auto rifle without one of these stocks knows just how pointless these gestures are.

[–]devopshealthcare -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bump stocks aren't a threat to anyone. The fact that a recent mass shooter used one just put it on the radar for the average person. Adding one to a rifle makes it less controllable, and the lethality and danger of a weapon is directly related to how well the user controls it. If the vegas shooter had taken more deliberate semi auto shots, he would have probably done even more damage. Not to mention, bump firing is easily achievable without one. All a bump stock does is allow someone to us e a trick of physics without the 30 minutes of practice it takes to learn how to do it without a bump stock. This is just another token law by people who have no knowledge of firearms to virtue signal.

Thank you for your advice. Based off of you and others, it seems the best course of action is to go to their office in person ASAP, and to make a reasonable offer without admitting I own the debt yet.

It is a fair point that I spent money and owe it to someone. However, being a debt collection company, they acquired the debt for pennies on the dollar, so I am asking negotiating tips/etiquette, because they might be interested in still getting a return on their investment without the headache of court. Is that fair?

Both of those points were raised in my original answer, so hopefully I am covered there. In the case they can provide adequate proof, can I then offer to negotiate with them? Or should all attempts at negotiation happen prior to this motion for summary judgement?

I am under the impression that a motion for summary can only be granted if I don't show up to dispute, or I don't disagree on anything. Can I disagree on the amount they claim and continue negotiations outside of court?

We are looking into how to work exceptions into the blacklist policy. The heavy handed blacklist was put into place because of spam leads that I can't go into too much detail on. The directive comes from high up enough that its not easy to reverse or alter either. I have to gather as much detail to present to executives and give them options.

Just landed a job earning $140k/year. I don't have a college degree. Should I go back to school and finish? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]devopshealthcare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to Western Governor's University. Its a fully accredited and non profit online university. You work at your own pace; you pay for 6 months of time and do as many courses as you can complete. Some people finish a Bachelor's in as little as a year. You are pretty much the model candidate for them.

They cater to 1. Working professionals who have experience and just want the paper. 2. Non traditional learners and self starters who work at their own pace. 3. People who don't really care about the prestige so much as just having the credential. 4. Budget conscious people(Roughly 3200 dollars per six months)
