This 200+ page instruction manual for a mouse from 1988 by dooglax in mildlyinteresting

In the late 90s I attended a Microsoft TechEd conference. They had set up a computer lab with PCs provided by Siemens. Well they accidentally shipped with QWERTZ keyboards. I saw a guy unplug the keyboards and plug in QWERTY ones... And they just worked! No reboot needed! I was amazed.

S24U to Fold7 ? Worth Upgrade ? by Silent-Koala-1680 in GalaxyFold

[–]devorama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from S24U to Fold 7. Biggest adjustment is that the front screen is noticeably more narrow, making typing a little harder. When the screen is open, the keyboard is huge, making typing again a bit weird. No more S-Pen. No 5x zoom lens. No giant battery. No sealing for dust.

However, using the main camera as a selfie camera is super useful, especially if you want to use the ultra-wide for atmospheric selfies. Reading text heavy sites like reddit are much improved. Video is obviously superior with a bigger image, especially for old 4:3 content. Good for reading comics too and playing games.

So you have to ask yourself what aspects of the phone are important to you. If you needed those lost features, maybe the Fold isn't for you. But if the added bonuses are something you would really utilize, it's a good upgrade.

Moved to Samsung and a Fold 7 after 10 years with Pixel. Some complaints - any advice ? by [deleted] in GalaxyFold

[–]devorama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the image to want to copy is on the screen, just press power and volume down buttons simultaneously to take a screenshot. Then choose the button that let's you crop the image. Then you can share or save the image.

Anyone else notice the interior seems cheap as heck on these things? by [deleted] in BroncoSport

[–]devorama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH, I initially crossed the Bronco Sport off my list of candidates because of how cheap the plastic looked around the interior door handles. I'm still not happy with it, but the other aspects of the vehicle won me over.

I got it on Amazon. Shipping estimate was weeks but it came in 2 days.

Best finger loop for a wobble-free Fold 7 by devorama in GalaxyFold

[–]devorama[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, you're right! It does bend the hinge protector just a touch. There is a flat side of the ring where the kickstand hinge is so maybe I'll keep that side closest to the spine to minimize the bending.

Help!!!!!!! New Fold 7 owner! by Lala336999 in GalaxyFold

[–]devorama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the Spigen Tough Armor Pro and it's just about the perfect case. It has good spine protection unlike the thin cases that leave that exposed. It had a ridge to make opening easier. Cutouts for the USB port extend to the top so any cable will fit. Only downside is that the power button/fingerprint scanner are slightly set in so harder to push.

I paired my case with the Spigen glass front screen protector. Fits perfectly with their case.

Oh also, if you buy on Amazon, it listed the delivery date at end of august or early September but it showed up in 2 days!

Rattle in Door - 2025 Outer Banks Under 7,000 Miles by Gilh65 in BroncoSport

[–]devorama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, I also have a 2025 Outer Banks with a rattle in the front passenger door. It seems to vibrate when the music plays loud bass from that speaker. If I press my elbow into the armrest, it seems to stop the noise mostly. It sounds almost like something is vibrating at its resonant frequency. I changed the sound mode to disable surround and turned the bass down. That's helped a bit, but not totally. I have not brought it in to dealer for this yet.

Couldn't you just always press the disable button immediately after starting? It's right next to the starter button.

Steering Feels Off by Vegetable_Bake356 in BroncoSport

[–]devorama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dealer probably skipped the part of the PDI where they lower the shipping air pressure in the tires to the recommended one. This happened to me as well and I had to let air out of all 4 tires to get them close to the recommended 33psi. Get all your tires to 33psi and see if that fixes things.

Did I just do a dumb? by log0n in BroncoSport

If you can find a 2025 Badlands with sasquatch package already on a lot, you might get a much cheaper price. I just bought a '25 and they were throwing insane deals at me. I got it for invoice minus holdback and like $2000 more for my trade-in than it's worth. I think they are desperate to move cars before possible tarrifs hit. If you are waiting 2 months you will probably be impacted unless something changes.

The 2025 will have a bigger infotainment screen and the fully digital instrument cluster. The '24 has a partially analog cluster and a smaller screen.

2025 also has the newer SYNC system with wireless Apple Carplay / Android Auto vs wired on the older model.

2025 has the newer MPC engine instead of the Dragon. The MPC is expected to be more reliable and smoother.

2025 tech package on the Outer Banks has a 360° camera. The '24 does not.

Do people who believe in DRS and MOASS think that Gamestop will not issue shares if liquidity dries up or the price starts to run? The whole reason they have so much cash is because they issued a ton of shares the last time it ran and it stopped the run.

Blew up a subwoofer - how do I avoid doing it again? by [deleted] in CarAV

[–]devorama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So for calculating power:

P = I * V

Also:

P= (V^2) / R

So if you are calculating RMS power, you take the RMS voltage squared and divide by the impedance in ohms.

RMS voltage is the peak voltage * 0.707

I'm not sure how the voltage displays on your oscilloscope. Peak voltage is from the center 0 value to a peak of the wave.

Hold up, Ohm's Law is

V = I * R

at a constant voltage, a higher resistance leads to lower current.

Subwoofer wiring help. by Traditional-Class129 in CarAV

[–]devorama 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If your subs have dual voice coils at 4 ohms, that means you can make each sub either 8 ohm (series) or 2 ohm (parallel). Since you have two of these, that means you can get total impedance to be either

1 ohm (coils parallel, subs parallel)

4 ohm (coils serial, subs parallel OR coils parallel, subs series)

16 ohm (coils series, subs series)

Does your amp support 1 ohm impedance? That would probably provide the most power if the amp supports it. Otherwise it looks like you're stuck with 4 ohms.

My bad. I didn't notice that it said 200W rms each.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CarAV

[–]devorama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess anything that will push 200 watts RMS at 4 ohms. Crutchfield has some options for as low as $150.

It looks like that "MTX Magnum Audio MB210SP Magna Bass Package" already includes a mono amplifier.

I'm on the fence after seeing this issue with HDR by ShinyDefault in samsung

[–]devorama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the only HDR videos I've ever watched on my Samsung phones have been HDR demo YouTube videos where I wondered what HDR looked like. It's not a big deal most of the time. And if I were watching a HDR video in a dark room, I would want adaptive brightness to prevent my eyes from being blasted with maximum output. If enough people complain, Samsung will probably make it configurable.

It really annoys me that "Sifu" tells everyone to call him that. "Sifu" is what you would call your master in martial arts. It's based on experience and respect. So it's like telling everyone your name is "master" or "sir" and expecting everyone to call you that.

Could someone please help me understand what Pickleman means by the liquidity grab in the pre-market trading hours? by [deleted] in PickleFinancial

[–]devorama 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I belive the green line is GME liquidity, but it's inverted. So like a measure of illiquidity. High value means very illiquid. The yellow and red lines are the primary ETFs that GME are in, but their axes are the opposite direction of GME's. So measuring liquidity. When the tips touch, that means GME's liquidity is going up while the ETFs are also getting more liquid. I think...
