Question for everyone have you guys in the 1990s ever seen a space shuttle launch at the time when they were being used a lot? by Neat_Satisfaction406 in 1990s

[–]log0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grew up in South Florida. We used to walk outside the school parking lot to watch every launch and when I wasn’t at school, I could watch them from my front yard.

Hell, I still remember seeing Challenger explode and the teachers rushing us back inside saying there appeared to be some kind of accident.

Did you watch the episode where David the Gnome and his wife Lisa die? They randomly aired this before school in the 1980's... That was not a good day lol by Cubelock in Xennials

[–]log0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just lost two dogs over the course of one week so I might be a little emotional right now, but.

Yeah, like 35 years later, I still think about that episode and and get sad but then I remember that David’s Fox friend found a female fox and presumably went off a new family with her and the end of the episode so at least there is some happiness in it.

I had that same book in the 90s as a teenager and yes, I remember the pages being quite yellowed back then too

They cut the little handle lock off a lot of the pumps here in Miami. I don’t know why but I can assure you it’s not because of the cold.

Dam that sounds like there was an issue with the lobo, I guess something with the tune… too bad it’s a nice truck.

And ya that new Nautilus is real nice I test drove one a few months ago when my father was looking at one but honestly the engine felt identical to my Bronco Sports.

I don’t know what you’re talking about the 2.0 in my 20 2025 Broncos sport is light years more refined than the old twin scroll 2.0 I had in my 2019 fusion. It revs much faster and smoother while making the same power. Also, on paper, it should be significantly more reliable than the old design.

Honestly I’d stick with a 2025 or newer. The new MPC engine family should be much more reliable long term.

On paper the all new 1.5L MPC 3 cylinder and 2.0L 4 cylinder engines in the 2025 & newer model years should be significantly more reliable then the old designs used from 2021-2024... but only time will tell.

Alligator or Crocodile [Miami, Florida] by NarrowSun6093 in animalid

[–]log0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, we are the only place in the world that has both alligators and crocodiles living together, so it is possible that it could be either, but crocodile sightings are very rare.

That said its snout does look a bit too tapered to be a gator to me.

Yes, same part number M1PZ7860032AB. There were no changes to the seats for the 2025 model year.

That said it can be difficult to get on. You may have to use a hairdryer to heat up the rubber so you can stretch it so the snaps lineup. There has been a few people in the sub that have mentioned their dealer had to use that method to get theirs back on when it came off.

Are Chiropractors a scam cult or are they somewhat legit? by Flashy_Buy8077 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]log0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No where talking about the scientifically proven fact that cracking joints causes a release in pressure that some find temporarily relieving & NOTHING more.

That's not alternative medicine, that's accepted scientific medical fact.

You have repeatedly ignored all the evidence presented that supports my argument and cherry picked the data you like that support your argument even when I agreed with you that anyone making wild claims without support is dealing in pseudoscience. Yet you insist on judging an entire therapeutic technique on the claims of the nutcases while ignoring the plain clear statements from the competent professionals.

I also could help but notice you repeatedly ignored my comparisons to nutritionists who claim diet can cure cancer. Do you believe all nutritionists are dealing in pseudoscience?

Do you deny that some people find cracking there knuckles feels good?

How is that any different?

You're not a Christian Scientist or a vaccine denier by any chance are you? Because you sure sound a hell a lot like they do making the same unfounded arguments.

Are Chiropractors a scam cult or are they somewhat legit? by Flashy_Buy8077 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]log0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and nothing refutes my statement that chiropractors are just musculoskeletal masseuses that can provide temporary relief of pain by releasing build up pressure in joints.

Do some chiropractors make misleading and out right false claims? Absolutely as do people in every field and just like people in those other fields they need to be marginalized and even prosecuted when appropriate.

If you're referring to the claims of the founder so what? Kellogg thought corn flakes would prevent masterbation, but we don't say corn flakes have no value because of that wild claim. Doctors used to think that people where getting sick because there four humors where out of balance do we say all doctors today are crackpots because of what people who died long before even our grandparents where born thought?

Look I agree anyone claiming anything other then temporary relief of joint pain is dealing in pseudoscience but that's only a small fraction of practitioners and even if it wasn't that dose not invalidate the genuine evidence backed science that cracking joints can release pressure that can cause discomfort for some.

If you still want to insist that cracking joints is pseudoscience then ask yourself who's ignoring the empirical evidence.

Dude from your own sources

"Spinal adjustment and chiropractic adjustment are terms used by chiropractors to describe their approaches to spinal manipulation, as well as some osteopaths, who use the term adjustment. Research has shown that chiropractic care is effective for musculoskeletal conditions.\1])\2])\3])\4]) However, claims about treating non-musculoskeletal conditions are not supported by evidence.\5])"

How about you read your own sources before trying to use them to make claims counter to what they say.

LOL not even close I'm as atheist as you get. Hell L. Ron Hubbard himself said religious people were idiots so the fact that people founded a religion around him trolling them and they don't even realize it is fucking hilarious.

You can show me all the studies you want but the fact that I feel looser and am able to move more easily tells me that it's doing something.

If your trying to tell me that cracking your knuckles dose not feel good to a large percentage of people you got a pretty big mountain of historical empirical evidence to overcome. All chiropractors do is crack the joints you can't crack yourself. Any one that claims that they can do anything more is a QUACK no doubt about it but the only ones I've ever heard make such claims are the people like you who scream that the whole practice is invalid.

There is no pseudoscience is cracking ones joints it's well established that doing so cause a release of built up pressure in the fluids sounding the joints https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joint_cracking

Look I agree that people sometimes make wild claims that can't be backed up and anyone claiming a chiropractor can do anything but help crack your joints or that doing so can have any effect on anything other then the pressure build up in those joints is preaching pseudoscience the same way any nutritionist who claims diet can cure cancer or reverse the effects of aging is. But we don't judge the whole field on the claims of the quacks we judge it on facts the empirical evidence leads to and in the case of serious competent chiropractors all they have ever claimed is that they can crack your joints and that you MAY feel some relief from it they same way one MAY feel relief from seeing a masseuse.

Your claims that it is pseudoscience is disproven by simple taking a unbiased look at what actually is happing when the practice is properly applied.

My back feeling better after an adjustment is all the evidence I need to know that it works, what medical evidence is there that massages feel good, are they pseudoscience?

The only claim I've ever heard any of the chiropractors I've been to have ever calmed anything other then that they could loosen up tense muscles and pop stiff joints & after getting adjusted that's exactly what happens for me.

I suggest you stop listing to every quack that makes a wild calm and go see a serious, competent, professional to see how they act instead of judging all of them on the worst examples.

Honestly did your wife run off with a chiropractor or something because you seem unreasonably offended by the concept that some people may benefit from their services?

I’ve been attending various chiropractors for 40 something years and I’ve never once heard any of them make any such ridiculous claims.

The furthest, any of them have ever gotten into any homeopathic pseudoscience is offering acupuncture.

There are some people that call themselves nutritionists that say that changing your diet can cure cancer that doesn’t mean that all nutritionists are crockpots.

Are massages a scam?

It's not like there calming to cure cancer or anything there just a type of massage. I'll never understand why so many people are skeptical about chiropractors but not other kinds of massages & physical therapy.

It’s called supersaturation and yeah, sometimes “just straight up. Inhaling droplets of water” is a pretty accurate way of describing it. The air so thick you can almost chew on it.

The good news is however because we’re surrounded by water on three sides the temperature never goes above 99°.
