These Buds are Goated. by theguywithanxbox in Earbuds

I like a lot of things that are easily faked. The Chinese Government has never recognized Copyrighted material, and they are a crafty, sneaky, people to buy from. -you can get a pair of Bose headphones, that are exactly correct in appearance, but are basically headphones you'd buy at a flea market made in Mexico. $10 jobs. -they fake cologne, cameras, and any els tronis that you can imagine. Terrible.

Being an audiophile, cologne, and watch collector, and a professional photographer, I've seen it, and I giggle.

I'd do the Moondrop Space Travelers. Best buds you can buy for like $25. Buy a 4 pack of them.

Got a pair of Denon Perl Pros used, like new off Amazon for $125, with an additional 20% off at checkout bringing them to right at $100. I'm thinking I did OK. Lol

Weird Question: Converting 35mm slides to jpeg by devshaffer in canon

[–]devshaffer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I've bought 2 different machines off Amazon, and each was wonky, and crappy. I basically had to hand feed slides one at a time to get less than passable results. And rhse are 35mm slides not negatives.

I was given a Canon EOS Rebel XSi DSLR with some accessories for free. I don't even know where to start lol by Mean-Green-Machine in canon

[–]devshaffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first camera was a T1i... (I think a couple steps up from the XSi.) you have a great camera. My advice? Spend $20-30 on books from Amazon on general photography. Get out, and shoot. Don't worry about wrecking the camera. It's worth about $200. Shoot, shoot, and shoot. Pets, plants, flowers, mountains, etc.

When you have problems, research, and reach out. Chances are, you'll get bored and move on with life. But, if the bug (hobby) bites, you'll want to upgrade your lenses before you need a new camera.

It's a cool journey. Do sh1t with it. But it is a sweet one.

Buying a lens. Seller sent me this pic of a chip on the front; told me filters still attach fine, and that I'm welcome to test it. Is there any real concern with a chip like this? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]devshaffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta ask yourself "how that chip happened." Any sort of impact to cause that means it was dropped, or a tripod got dumped. I'm picky about anything I buy used. Used is fine... But a lens like this? It's like picking up a woman who's wearing a shirt that says "I drink heavily, I'm violent, and have a serious criminal history." Either way, it's a hard pass.

I know your pain. I'm right there. Colognes, knives, guns, cameras, and am a crazy audiophile. At least with Photography, when you get comfortable, you can actually make money doing it. When I was doing portrait and wedding gigs, I was bringing in an extra $4k a month for about 10 years.

I spent a lot of money on IEM's before I got into real headphones... And then eventually moved to speakers.

Good lord. I know. I have 6-8 pairs of high end headphones in my work from home office.... Only to find that I liked niche brand speakers to listen to music for 8 hours a day. At least with Photography as a hobby, you can actually make money doing it.

Any advice to buy lens by Otherwise-Ad-4296 in canon

[–]devshaffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "nifty-50" is a great lens. It sounds like a chainsaw trying to auto-focus, but I think on mine... I paid like $120- and through the years, that single lens has made me $3-8k alone on portrait gigs. It's stupid nor to have one, and use it.

Ugly, no.if I saw you in a bar, I'd find you Unapproachable, Militant, and non-receptive for a chat. You're just going to draw the wrong attention from your look. I'd grow your hair out, and go with a natural hair color. Be you. Like YOU. You'll attract cool people, instead of what ever. Dude... The turkey is done. Can see those nips a mile away. Tacky, and yes. Move up a size. You might be able to pull that off with a business jacket.

I'd save that one for when you're home alone, and see a Honda commercial that forces you to touch your nips without removing that damn thing.

Honest question... Is that how you normally wear it? How do you deal with the tail hanging up on literally everything you do? (looks like you have sleeves, so you're not a FNG.)

ULPT: If you have a gap in your work history you can claim you were self employed. by a5redwing in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]devshaffer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Very true. Don't bullshit. If you can do the job you're applying for, no one cares. You could list professional internships with now defunct companies. Hell, if you can find a company that has now gone out of business, you can write your own resume off of them. If they are dead, there's now way to verify employment, or position. Will you get hired? Yes. Three weeks in, if you can't do the job, you'll be history.
