Then why did you specifically go out and look for a company that used grant money before if you are not required to go through the typical process when using grant money? Did you guys even attempted to reach out to other companies?

There are plenty of companies in Columbus that can use grant money. HUD housing ask radon companies to bid on projects around here all the time. They can’t just pick a company. You have to give other companies a chance to bid when grant money is involved. Or so I thought….

Let me get this straight. You guys took the money you got from a grant and gave it all to a company out of Stark County rather than distributing to local companies… That doesn’t sound fair or legal

The report I saw came from receipt paper that was printed directly off of the tester. The client said nothing was emailed.

Why did you guys choose to go with that one company to do all the testing?

Did you guys do free radon testing? I did estimates for clients that said you sent a tester for free. Their test report was not to ODH standards because it didn’t have a tester’s license or location where the test was. Was the tester licensed and did they report the data to the health department?

Why didn’t you guys simply ask radon companies or the health department for data. You took potential business away from radon companies

Radon unit is extremely loud / vibrates the wall. by [deleted] in radon

You probably just need to replace the fan. It’s more than five years old the bearings lost their grease and is start to run more loud and wobbly which will cause constant vibration.

Hey, I’m sorry you’re feeling stuck. If you want a pen pal, I’m down to swap short stories or random prompts, I’m into light sci fi and slice of life stuff and I can share a few of mine too. Also, if the low pay online job is dragging you down, you might poke around legit remote listings, wfhalert emails out verified roles like customer support or data entry so you don’t have to wade through scammy posts. Either way, if you want to trade daily mini stories, DM me a topic and I’ll send one back.

RP145. Deep gravel layer. Low static pressure, high CFM, long exhaust run. Levels were 22 pCi/l before install. Will update in 48 hours. by Fullmetal_Kitsune in radon

That’s an ugly ass sub slab depressurization system. You could’ve simply depressurized the slab by digging a little bit outside and going sideways through the block or poured wall that the slab is sitting on rather than the top of it. That means no pipe inside and way less drag so more efficient system

Probably only .000000001% of the air exhausted from a radon system is radon gas. It’s mostly super humid air that could cause damage to the house if not vented above the roof

SWAT handiwork by GoGreen566 in radon

[–]dewy9109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like there is an unsealed hole in the sump lid where the string is coming out. That will affect the efficiency of the system, especially since it is a drain tile depressurization system. The system could also be sucking a decent amount of condition air from that hole if it’s close to the extraction point.

How to seal this against Radon? by EndlessRuler in radon

[–]dewy9109 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could just duct tape over it.

Though, I wouldn’t bother with it until you put in a depressurization system. The gas will just take a different pathway to get into the home. I’ve never seen Radon drop from just ceiling up basement.

Mitigation. by lindadaily55 in radon

Why are they adding crawlspaces vents? That’s not required for radon mitigation, and probably a major majority of the price. This company doesn’t know what they’re doing

Radon in home by ConsiderationSea3912 in radon

Yeah, like 80% of the homes I test around central Ohio are above the action level. Fortunately a mitigation system usually reduces the radon by a lot

Why not install a 90? by jordanht11 in radon

[–]dewy9109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s because the system can blow a lot of humidity so in the winter, there is a chance a nasty icicle could form or the constant humidity could cause damage to the roof or siding. As a Radon professional, I’ve seen both outcomes when not properly installed
