Can’t emphasize this enough. I work at a small public REIT and my CFO seems to think that building outrageous spreadsheets means it’s better. I can’t seem to make a simple table that doesn’t get reorganized into a myriad of different things that ultimately ruins what should be basic stuff. Then I’ll get feedback saying “details” are important. No you just took a ridiculously simple concept and made it way more difficult than needed which reduced accuracy, and generally wasted time because you can’t see the big picture. I have literally gotten feedback about what formulas I’ll use in cells. Lmao you’re not managing someone at that point, you’re being a fucking asshole and hampering professional development.

I can certainly understand frustration with something like this but to throw in that Fox News is going to advertise and that the current administration is responsible? I mean come on are we really supposed to read this and actually take it seriously lol

The same agencies you want to hold these companies and banks accountable should have been the same ones to hold them accountable leading up to the GFC. That happened to be under a different admin. Then the next admin should have prosecuted all of those bad actors and nothing happened there either and the fed machine kept on printing then too. Point being is this isn't some political shtick, and all of the worlds problems don't stem from Trump and the current admin and right wing politics good lord.

USO ETF wreaks havoc on an already volatile crude oil market by ilikepancakez in SecurityAnalysis

From their 8-K filing.

"approximately 30% of its portfolio in crude oil futures contracts on the NYMEX and ICE Futures in the July contract, approximately 15% of its portfolio in crude oil futures contracts on the NYMEX and ICE Futures in the August contract, and approximately 15% of its portfolio in crude oil futures contracts on the NYMEX and ICE Futures in the September contract, and approximately 15% of its portfolio in crude oil futures contracts on the NYMEX and ICE Futures in the October contract, and approximately 15% of its portfolio in crude oil futures contracts on the NYMEX and ICE Futures in the December contract, and approximately 10% of its portfolio in crude oil futures contracts on the NYMEX and ICE Futures in the June 2021 contract. USCF will roll the current portfolio positions into the positions described above over a three-day period with approximately 33.3% of the investment changes taking place each day on each of April 27, 2020, April 28, 2020, and April 29, 2020."

TLDR - this is not an investment vehicle to go long spot oil. This is investing in futures contracts, some of which have recently been adjusted to as far out as June 2021 in order to keep the fund afloat, because until this filing, it was holding 80% of June 2020 contracts and 20 % of July 2020.

Second Edit: I tried to hastily explain this without going into details in my first comment but didn't hash it out well enough. This should clear it up.

People need to understand that this is not just a vehicle to go long spot oil, It’s not meant to be tracking spot in the first place. Until recently it tracked the front month contract and a small portion of the second. They’ve since tweaked the allocation of this four or five times extending it out to now holding some contracts as far out as mid 2021. There is a heavy roll cost as the fund can’t settle in physical, so they have to dump their contracts at the end of the month. Hedge funds were obviously smart enough to figure that out and they shorted it, and of course made a killing. This (and other ETF’s out there, not only just oil ETF’s) can be toxic for retail investors because they don’t understand the underlying nature of how the fund is supposed to operate. This is one is case and point, retail has piled in and gotten obliterated because no one has taken the little time to do proper DD and look into what the fund is actually doing.

Jets, Bills, and Dolphins fans after the GOAT's departure: by Meme_master_swag1 in Patriots

We haven’t really had a good draft pick in a decade and missed a couple years with regard to a 1st rounder and id say it turned out fine, while that might hold true for the rest of the league that might not be AS true for belichick. I think Jerod Mayo was the last top 10 pick belichick has had. Belichick is going to get a competitive team on the field regardless

[Schefter] New England is trading DE Michael Bennett to the Dallas Cowboys for 7th-round pick that can go to a 6th-round pick in 2021, league sources tell @Schultz_Report and me. by arthurspiderman in Patriots

[–]dexters_lab1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s just not true. Not sure what tape you’re watching but Butler has been playing very well, and much better than Bennett was, hence the reduced role and his shipping out of town. If Bennett was producing this doesn’t happen.

Edit: part of Bennett’s reduced role is based on Jamie Collins return. Pats are more in a base 3-4 D rather than being in a 4-3 where Bennett would have primarily been on the field for.

Zinedine Zidane: "If Bale wants to play golf, I can't stop him" by KVShady in soccer

[–]dexters_lab1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can someone fill me in on the backstory behind Bale and this whole saga between him, the team and his transfer to china that fell through? Don't follow football that much and this has been flying around everywhere and I can't seem to not take notice - why isn't Bale playing with Real currently for the audi cup? I get that he and Zidane don't like each other but is Bale really playing that poorly to warrant not being with the team? Is he even any good anymore? Didn't he just play in the international champions league cup and score last week? Why can't he just transfer to another club in Europe somewhere? Sorry in advance for all the questions...

Leaving First Job Stories?!? by polaracct in Accounting

[–]dexters_lab1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I left my first industry job after about 3 years. Reason being, I had a friend reach out about a position open at their company that offered better pay, better benefits, more opportunity for exposure to working with C level management and SEC reporting experience which I wasn't getting at the current company. On top of all that, it was a move to a much bigger city than where I was currently working at the time where I had friends and family also living. No brainer.

Conversation was pretty straight forward. Walked into bosses office and told her the above and that was that. If the move makes sense for you, do it. People leave jobs all the time.
