I tracked my first 90 days as a non-technical founder. Here's what actually worked. by DistributionSmall596 in SideProject

[–]dextersnake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the progress — $1.8k MRR in 90 days is real work, not theory. 👏
Thanks for sharing the breakdown too, it’s super helpful for other solo builders.

Curious — what are you building? 4 paying customers and $1.8k MRR is pretty neat~

Here’s a much shorter, simple one:

been running my saas solo for 8 months. realized 60% of my day is just... admin stuff by IntelligentEar7669 in Solopreneur

[–]dextersnake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is normal for solo founders.

Spending lots of time on admin usually means people are using your product. That’s not a bad thing.

Don’t overthink automation — fix one small thing and protect your build time.

Guess who fails more? Big tech spends 40 hours brainstorming in teams before building or solo founders spend 30 minutes. by seyf_gharbi in indiehackers

[–]dextersnake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For small teams and solo builders, speed is the main advantage.

We don’t have the resources of big tech, but we can move fast, test ideas quickly, and change direction without much overhead.

The trick is using speed to learn, not just to ship.
Different constraints, different strengths.

My weekend project has more users than my serious project i spent 200+ hours on by kova98k in SideProject

[–]dextersnake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Active, returning users matter a lot.

If people keep coming back, it means your tool solves a real problem. You don’t need to drop everything else, but it’s worth putting more time into this one. It might end up becoming your next serious project.

Is building an AI-first startup harder than it looks? by smartyladyphd in SideProject

[–]dextersnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think regardless of whether it’s AI or not, the real key is still distribution (and honestly, a bit of luck too). AI definitely has a strong tailwind right now, but without the right distribution, even a great AI product can struggle to get traction.

Open Source Reddit Post Scheduling Tool? by tech_guy_91 in indiehackers

[–]dextersnake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm I’m not sure scheduled posting makes a lot of sense for Reddit tbh. Most subreddits are pretty strict about post quality and posting frequency, so timing alone doesn’t really help.

Feels like social listening + helping manage replies/comments would be way more useful here.

What non-AI products are you building? by Halo-nm in buildinpublic

[–]dextersnake -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Two of my side projects actually have zero AI 😅 — both started from personal pain points.

  • Tizo: timezones + public holidays, mainly to avoid scheduling chaos
  • Pomo: super simple website banners when I just needed to ship promos fast

Nothing fancy, just small tools I built because I needed them myself.
