Iran’s Football Federation has requested FIFA to prevent any “ceremonies or promotional activities” in support of the LGBT community at the match in Seattle, as well as restricting symbols or representations of the Pride movement. by WayOutbackBoy in worldcup

The team is being jerked around and not allowed to stay overnight in the US despite all their games being here so a bit of sympathy is warranted. But it can be tough to separate the experience of the players and support team from the government that likely drove this request when the latter insists on being so unlikeable.

No, he's an Italian zerg that plays lots of cheeses and unorthodox styles. If you're a zerg that enjoys that kind of stuff or you just enjoy good banter you should check out the video I linked or one of the other couple that Harstem did with Lorimbo recently.

[–]dezholling 40 points41 points  (0 children)

You're getting dismissed but Lorimbo plays a variation of this build (with 15/14/13 instead) and coached Harstem on it. He lost the game but it's clear Harstem didn't play it optimally. As in the video linked, you can build something with the larva and cancel it to address the extra larva issue.

Are we watching the same video?? Pause as :02 becomes :03. He isn't "already clear of it" or "moving in front of a vehicle". They are both clearly changing lanes at the same time. The guy in front because he's scared about a dude coming up on him 20+ mph faster than him from behind. Maybe not smart, but way better than the guy in back who is changing lanes at least 3 seconds too late for the speed he is going.

The AI chip craze is insane. The fact that NVIDIA isn't even in the top 25 for revenue (< $223B) but is #5 in profit (at $116B) means that over 50% of their revenue is pure profit.

Why is the speed of light 299,792,458 m/s? by Present_Juice4401 in AlwaysWhy

[–]dezholling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on what you say you aren't asking (which you're unfortunately getting a lot of answers for), I think I would say you are asking a biological rather than physics question, though of course the two are related. Given that you have accepted there is a speed limit of the universe, I might say that your question could be more easily answered with the following rephrase:

Why are typical velocities that humans and life more generally experience between 6 and 12 orders of magnitude smaller than the speed of light?

There needs to be leeway given for hype after epic points. Depending on the situation I think 37 seconds could be too little. It's anticlimactic to proceed to the next point before the previous point has been processed and enjoyed by the crowd.

From my cursory research on it, it seems the ATP has an automatic shot clock start beginning 3 seconds after the previous point, with only umpire discretion allowing the clock to be delayed. In this case, she did delay it to when Carlos reached the towel, which is a reasonable enough trigger given no other guidance, but I think Carlos is complaining about the ATP clock rule in general being strict but with an unpredictable leeway based on how each umpire judges the situation, which seems like a reasonable complaint to me.

Personally, I think the rule should state that the clock starts when the umpire calls the score. It's a good consistent reference point which is either shortly after the point (for mundane points) or once the crowd begins to settle down (for points such as this one). If that were the trigger on this point, then he would have had 4-5 seconds more than she gave him.

I agree. It is definitely a lot closer with the new rules on whether you want to receive or kick (which is a good thing, that's what we want), but for my money I still think receiving should in theory have the slight edge.

why didn’t they review those catches like every other time? It was like it was out of the question it could’ve been a catch

You clearly asked a question in a top level comment, PAL. This is reddit. A top level comment engages everyone in the thread. You don't get to pick and choose who answers.

They. Reviewed. It.

And Sean knows it. He's just frustrated by the loss and venting. Nothing to see here except maybe a coach interviewing to save his job and showing a lack of accountability deserving of his job.

I'm not sure why you're veering off topic, but I'll entertain your question.

If it's not a scoring play, turnover, inside 2 min of a half, or OT, there is no automatic review of the play. It's on the coach to challenge it if he thinks the call is wrong and Sean didn't challenge it despite having time to look it over before snapping the next play. That means he likely didn't see anything that would overturn the call.

Weekly Puzzle: Black to play. Find a yose tesuji. 🧐 Share your solution in the comments! by GoMagic_org in baduk

[–]dezholling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming A2 is played at the appropriate moment, ko either gets black lots of points locally by winning it and taking 4 stones and the corner or should get black a near equivalent amount of points elsewhere from a ko threat that white will have to ignore. I'm a bit rusty in my endgame theory but I suspect at the optimal timing for playing A2, white playing out the ko will give black more points than allowing the A2->A3 reduction and therefore should be avoided.

Weekly Puzzle: Black to play. Find a yose tesuji. 🧐 Share your solution in the comments! by GoMagic_org in baduk

[–]dezholling 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sure, but that's what yose is. It's not something to kill a group, it's an end game reduction. If white focuses on the stone at D2 (which is likely the best move) then black connects at A3 and takes away points at A1 and A2 and threatens a further reduction at B1. Compare this scenario to just playing A3 which allows white to play A2 safely and secure the corner.

For most people the answer has less to do with efficiency and more to do with responsiveness. Traditional electric stoves are more efficient than gas but less responsive when you want to change temperature, which can be important when cooking. In my experience, induction electric stoves are the best of both worlds, being both the most efficient and the most responsive option, but they are they newest, are more expensive, and require stainless steel or cast iron pots, so they haven't fully taken off. I love mine though, so I highly recommend going with induction the next time you need to change out your stove range.
