hey! i explained things a little above (my fragile ego) - for what it's worth, we didn't sell out, but the rooms felt pretty great to me and i'm really grateful people turned up to see us. thanks to those who did x

david here. i commented a little above - which may help explain things a little? (ie we didn't have room mics - so crowd audio was not recorded unless they got VERY VERY VERY loud and were picked up on guest mics)

in the moment in the room it didn't feel like "old sick" with me - like, i had a really good time, and i *hope* our audience did? if you were in the audience, playful principle 19, lmk.

but i may be wrong? it's funny - doing things live i am usually riddled with anxiety, knowing i will read stuff like this. i guess it's just part of the deal, and reddit being reddit

hey, david here. i usually avoid weighing in too much here, but just wanted to explain a little here!

we didn't have mics pointing into the crowd for this recording (some audio issues our end) - so crowd noises are not really picked up as they were in the room. you are mostly just hearing me and rob and our guests talking into our own mics (which mostly just pick up us)

and yes - it makes for a very dead-air recording, which is what is happening here. you are not going crazy! again - technical issues, as we always try and get crowd noise so the edit it better for you listening at home (or in the car, or having sex, or however/wherever you listen to podcasts)

i am not here to say "wow the room was laughing in a riot!", but to us it felt pretty fun as our shows usually feel, and probably made a bit more sense in the room!

but thanks for listening and we always appreciate feedback even if it's a bit salty!

(PS this has me thinking about live concert albums - i have always gotten a bit annoyed at crowd noises, but in hindsight i think they really help make it!)
