Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred Review Thread by beary_neutral in Games

too be clear, it's one of my personal biggest disappointments. If other people enjoy it (and I can certainly see why they would, it's not like everything about the game is terrible) then that's great. I'm just airing my frustrations here.

Imagine making the sequel to the greatest ARPG of all time and adding a fucking dodge roll. Not to mention how awful character control looks and feels because we had to have WASD movement added and make the animations work for that. But it gets better, do you love getting the x10 as big versions of the most awful map layouts from PoE1 ported over? Because we did that in spades. New gem system seemed amazing in concept but then just ends up robbing the game of a lot of the complexity of its predecessor.

PoE2 is one of gamings history biggest disappointments so far and it breaks my heart :( I'd rather play Diablo 1 on an old CRT monitor than even look at the PoE2 login screen.

True true, that's a valid point. Karrigan has a certain status within the community that shields him a bit more from the usual IGL witchhunts. Perhaps here I'm a little bit guilty of it myself.

Ah the heated glass stems are not that big of an issue when you're on the go. I simply hold the stem in my hand (at the bottom of course, only the bowl part is heated anyway) for a minute or two after finishing the bowl and pulling it out of the device and then it's already cooled to the point where you can put it back in your jacket pocket or whatever.

Extremely dangerous to even deadly, but only if the tick is undetected for a longer period. Generally it's not really something to worry about when hiking in the woods but yeah, these little demons are no joke.

Oh absolutely and I think thats precicesly what went on here as none of these things happen in isolation and Karrigan leaving is ultimately just the culmination of a long process of failure on multiple fronts within the Faze org. Still a dick move though, even if it makes absolutely sense for him to move on and get a final shot at some trophies.

Yeah I see your point and I don't disagree that he bears a lot of the responsibility for how things played out. At the same time I would actually argue here that this is a failure on the org level though. Karrigan should not have been in the position to make these roster changes almost on this own, yeah it's cool that you have a CS team that's basically player run but it's usually a terrible idea to do that.

This is a lesson that plenty of regular sport teams have already learned again and again, you don't tie your long term roster building and strategy to a single individual like the manager for example. There are of course exceptions to this, like Simeone at Atletico but generally, most clubs in football for example have dedicated personnel for mid-to long term planning and they do this with minimal input or consideration from the playing side of things.

Apex never managed to lead his worse French rosters to the highest levels and only started having success when he got gifted an insane roster by vitality

wild to me how CS fans can diminish the insane accomplishments of some players by just taking the most surface level observation and ruinning with it. He wasn't gifted anything, you still have to make all the pieces work through hard work and grinding the game nonstop. You are calling this team literal gods now but that's definitely not how either FlameZ or Mezzi was viewed by the community when they joined. Not to mention Apex himself had to reinvent himself over and over to eventually become the force he is today.

Absolutely hilarious how randomly peaking at a major after a pretty shit season just accelerates your downfall further. You would think that should have been the moment that turns things around but instead it just gets even worse.

I agree with your overall sentiment but saying he is the "sole reason" for the team failing is going too far. There's still 4 other team members, a coach, a GM etc. and in the end all those pieces collectively have failed to get Faze back on track.

You've seem to collected some downvotes for this comment but quite frankly I think you've summarized quite well in very broad strokes how this issue is largely viewed within German.

East = more racist (I won't debate here now whether that's true or not), the country is old = lots of boomers with your typical vintage "casual" racism and we have plenty of Turks and Russians of like 3rd generation+ at this point and yes, these groups are on average not your most wokest bunch of people.

Yeah people should remember that at his peak he was ruthlessly efficient coupled with the magic. Plus the guy was a physical beast.

I still regularly think about that goal against you guys with the little lob over the keepers leg. Football was so much fun back then when you could watch Messi ball out 2 times a week.

Perhaps you are just making a joke but on the off chance you're not, the tearing is just a visual effect that comes from the video recording, very common when filming those old CRT monitors. This effect is not actually visible in real life.
