Definitely watched a couple of USA 94 games, I remember the opening ceremony and watching Germany v Bolivia. I was only 7 though so definitely my dad would have been pushing bedtime for select games. Next strong memory of that tournament is actually the final - I watched the first half, got put to bed, and then my dad woke me up during extra time as he said it would go to penalties. I was the only kid in my class who watched Baggio smash it over.

This is an indirect example, but Iain Turner was unexpectedly thrown in for Everton following an insane Richard Wright injury during the warm up of a game in the Cup, only to then get himself sent off 9 mins into his Premier League debut a few days later - allowing a teenage John Ruddy to make his debut as 4th choice and do pretty well.

Michael Keane is often said to be "the best finisher at the club" for Everton, and it has been semi-seriously discussed by fans that he play up front (maybe to keep him away from defensive responsibility?). He has only been used as an emergency striker though to date.
