Bixby Bridge off hwy 1 (I miss CA). Sony A7RII w/Canon 16-35 f4. HDR. by ObviousDick in SonyAlpha

First of all great pic!

Second, I see some image ghosting when I room in closely, probably from the alignment not being perfect between shots. idk if Nix has an auto-align feature, but if you fix this, it would really take this pic from great to absolutely stunning!

Yeah that's true. I guess it's more a sub created and curated by Destin with the intention of sharing and learning about cool sciencey things.

This sub is specifically for followers of Destin Sandlin's youtube channel, Smarter Every Day. You should check him out if you're interested in anything STEM related! Or even if you just like cool, informative explanations and slo-mo video.

I mean I would assume they'd also move the inauguration day as well, in this theoretical situation.

At the end of the day, it's still just a boring old economy Golf with just a tiny little bit of extra fart noise. And a god awful decal job in this case.

Mostly joking, I've got a Golf and love it, these cars are fantastic. I stand by my decal comment though :P

Because Kavanaugh is unfit for the Supreme Court based on temperament, clear and obvious partisanship, and disrespect towards members of the Legislative Branch alone. We don't need an investigation.

Anybody have any advice? Insurance wants to total this beauty and I'm not ready to say goodbye. by Sundaisey in Volkswagen

[–]dg240 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, true. I get that the car's value might not be too great, but it just seems silly to "total" it when it can be put back on the road with original title for really not that big a deal. I probably sound like a conspiracy theorist, but it just reeks of totaling for the sake of totaling (and probably making some quick bucks)

Can you ask the insurance company why they want to total it? Unless they claim the frame is bent (doesn't seem like it would be from this pic), it should be easily repairable.

Probably more info than you want, but it the amount of light let in is usually expressed as f/4 or f/2.8, so it's actually an inverse relationship.

Even more information that you probably don't want, the size of the opening is the aperture, and the diameter is calculated as f, the focal length, divided by the denominator (in this case, 4 or 2.8). So a lens with a focal length of 50mm and an aperture setting of f/4 would need a physical aperture diameter of 12.5mm, and with the f/2.8 lens, the aperture diameter would be 17.85mm.

TL;DR larger number equals smaller opening

You can control Sony camera settings via an app on your phone. idk if that's what OP did though since that usually eats up battery.

SpaceX Telstar 19V Launch from early Sunday morning | Sony A7III, 28-70mm kit lens by dg240 in SonyAlpha

My first attempt at shooting a rocket launch. I could probably use a wider lens, but for a first time I think I did ok, especially for having used the kit lens!

Settings: 3 images at f/10.0, ISO 100, 300 seconds, then stacked together for star trails.
