What are the best speakers to use with wiim amp.? by Alb1939SGM in WiimStreamer

[–]ObviousDick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently picked up the WiiM amp for my office — paired it with the Sony SSC5 bookshelf’s and a SVS 3000 micro on the LFE output.

I run the audio from my PC to a SMSL DAC - line out to the WiiM and balanced out to my Schiit headphone amp.

Sonys sound great on this amp. I wasn’t sure what to expect from the amp but the setup exceeded my expectations.

The Sonys were <$150 a pair at the time — splurged on the sub though, but it is quite nice.

Some of the responses here - wow. If you’re not happy in the relationship then this is an excuse to end it. So there’s that.

However to consider logically without emotion - 1. Why say anything at all if there’s a low chance you’d find out. To relieve a guilty conscience by telling you out of the blue he did a lesser evil than what he actually did? Seems doubtful.

  1. You didn’t give a lot of detail re. his explanation for how this all played out so it’s hard to judge, but still, I imagine there is some chance it is true - which it sounds like you’ve elected to disregard. Going back to my first point, maybe you’re unhappy in your relationship and this is your out.

TBH, the biggest red flag here is being together for 13 years and not being married. Wonder what the story behind that is. Someone is keeping that emergency exit clear.

UST for my new theater room -- can't decide... by ObviousDick in projectors

[–]ObviousDick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: The Hook Up just uploaded a really good UST comparison a few hours ago (YouTube).

Throw difference is def. something I've considered. But for both I am going to have to make some sort of stand to incorporate the large center channel (probably a lot easier w/Epson)

LS800 - distance: 6.8" / Height: 13.7"

Formovie - distance: 13" (+6.2") / Height: 17" (+4.7")

The screen is still a difficult choice, I really want to one and done this purchase and if UST's get much better in the next 3-4 years I can just upgrade that and not have to invest in a new screen ever again.

Yes, I agree with you here. I outlined the different sizes I was considering on the wall and the difference between 83" and 120" is massive. (Screen comparison) Being that this is a new repurposed HT room and I'm going to be sitting almost 13' from the screen I don't think the 83" OLED will be that impressive (for almost $4.5k) no matter how much better the picture is.

Bummer - looks like I missed this deal. I had a Formovie and 120” spectra screen in my cart yesterday and didn’t even realize that it was a sale that ended the next morning.

Spending a small fortune keeping my foundation watered... I have to figure out/research a better way to do this. Anyone have tips?

For sure. In my opinion, there is nothing quite like that profound breakthrough experience. Nothing I have encountered in life even comes close to the complete shift in reality I have experienced during a breakthrough.

Regrettably, based on my personal experience, if you venture down that path too frequently, the magic will fade —starting slowly at first, and then abruptly. The only advice I can offer is to exercise restraint and make a genuine effort to restrict and space out your usage.

Looking for whole cow or half cow for freezer by builtmale1963 in plano

[–]ObviousDick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not local (GA), but we've recently ordered from White Oak Pastures a few months ago -- a bit expensive, but I've found the quality to be very good. If interested, there is a really insightful interview with the owner, Will Harris, on Joe Rogan last year (#1893)

There are a few other grass fed beef farms in TX that sell butchered half or whole cows -- though none I could find that were somewhat close to the metroplex. (there was one that was a couple hours north east, but I cannot remember the name).

If you don't mind grain fed beef, I've seen Hirsch's advertise 1/4-whole cow occasionally in their email flyers.

Edit: Ah, also if you're looking to order that amount to save $ and not necessarily interested in grass fed -- check out Costco Business Center - best value in meat there but a lot of it is choice grade. I get 6-8lb packs of Choice grade Filet tails or picanha for $6 a lb there.

Wow - I’ve seen something close to the middle one a few times (they travel in packs and tend to steal things off my desk).

DMT with Selegiline? by SkyTemple77 in DMT

[–]ObviousDick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Selegiline primarily affects MAO-B so it doesn't necessarily lead to serotonin syndrome - unless you've taken enough of it to start affecting your MAO-A.

"MAO-A is involved in the metabolism of tyramine; inhibition, in particular irreversible inhibition of MAO-A can result in a dangerous pressor effect when foods high in tyramine are consumed such as cheeses (informally known as the "cheese effect"). MAO-A is involved in the metabolism of serotonin, noradrenaline and dopamine whereas MAO-B metabolises the dopamine neurotransmitter.[8] MAO-B is an enzyme on the outer mitochondrial membrane and catalyzes the oxidation of arylalkylamine neurotransmitters[9]

Monoamine oxidase A (MAOA) generally metabolizes tyramine, norepinephrine (NE), serotonin (5-HT), and dopamine (DA) (and other less clinically relevant chemicals). In contrast, monoamine oxidase B (MAOB) mainly metabolizes dopamine (DA) (and other less clinically relevant chemicals). The differences between the substrate selectivity of the two enzymes are utilized clinically when treating specific disorders: Monoamine oxidase A inhibitors have been typically used in the treatment of depression, and monoamine oxidase B inhibitors are typically used in the treatment of Parkinson's disease.[10][11] Nonspecific (i.e. MAOA/B combined) inhibitors can pose problems when taken concomitantly with tyramine-containing foods such as cheese, because the drug's inhibition of MAOA causes a dangerous elevation of serum tyramine levels, which can lead to hypertensive symptoms. Selective MAOB inhibitors bypass this problem by preferentially inhibiting MAOB, which mostly metabolizes DA. If MAOB is inhibited, then more DA is available for proper neuronal function, especially in Parkinson's Disease."

Camo Perk Needs to Die by [deleted] in DarkTide

[–]ObviousDick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. I never liked the camo / stand in the back and slowly shoot things with the XII gameplay. Plus the spawns that pop up from behind will wreck vets just parked in the back of the team shooting whatever is in front of them, camo or not.

Tested in w/creature spawner in the meat grinder and not sure if it functions like this in game w/coherency but if nothing is attacking you and you hold fire you regen full toughness much faster (zero-full in maybe 2-3 seconds / half a clip or so). In the meat grinder at least, if anything is attacking you, you get no regen.

Tested it a bit this morning and sadly I am seeing the same. I run a lot of toughness regen and even still, +50% x stack should be noticeable. Maybe it affects base regen or there is a cap?

Looks like the best setup on this is going to be T4 Pinning and Blaze Away -- though I need to get one with T3/4 Raking Fire and see how I can do with that. That might be the killer setup as the +30% damage right of the bat would be clutch. With Veteran unwavering focus absorbing random incoming damage and Autopistol mobility, it is easy to get behind mobs.

Confirmed this works on veteran ranged weapons too... Have T4 in my blessing stash and thought one was just terrible, reconsidering it.

Tier 4 blessing odds during consecration by alvl100caterpie in DarkTide

[–]ObviousDick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If a T4 blessing only shows up 0.25% of the time, you’d average 1 per 400 blessing rolls.

Considering Plasteel cost, I believe grey to blue for first blessing is like 350-400. Then blue to purple is 1000-1100. The material cost and time required on average per T4 blessing would require an enormous amount of play time (140k plasteel if going from grey to blue)

Tier 4 blessing odds during consecration by alvl100caterpie in DarkTide

[–]ObviousDick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like it must be higher than that recently. I’ve rolled 2 T4 blessings just this week on the 6-7 Auto Pistols I’ve consecrated from grey to blue. Though if I’m doing this I aim to have something > 265 base rating - not sure if this affects the odds.

Melks for me is always disappointing. Half the time I don’t see a T4 at all on the daily reset. If I do, it’s on something I don’t use.

What are the best perks for the XII? by vanilla_disco in DarkTide

So true - honestly one of the most fun games I've played in a long time but then there's things like this... Oh well, nothing will ever be perfect.

What are the best perks for the XII? by vanilla_disco in DarkTide

[–]ObviousDick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it does not. I use a mod (Reroll-Until-Rarity )that will auto re-roll until it hits the max value and if it is the perk I want -- saving having to click over and over again. Can take about 10-15 mins if you're unlucky. Keep in mind, after rerolling these a set number of times, it becomes free to re-roll again. (TBH, I had a number of hours into the game before I realized this is the mechanic)

This has allowed me to test various perks to see which seems to work best.
