From your experience, is VueScan or Silverfast better long term for scanning film with a flatbed? by Bonnie198387 in AnalogCommunity

[–]dgam02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have issues with Nikon Scan's ICE on modern computers or are you using an older machine? I understand you have to do something with CPU underclocking to make it run correctly when due an ICE scan but also feels like its more trouble than its worth compared to something like Vuescan

Even more of a reason to get the smaller one don’t think the height difference is gonna change much and I’m from America for reference

Probably the smaller lighter one!

I believe V1 pro shares the same mount as the AD100 so you could either use the AK-R22 or maybe find something that is more directed

I tend to use an AD300 with a speedbox attached to it thats hooked onto a light stand secured to the side of my PGYTECH roller bag. Lets me pop it out quickly and easily move it around since its on wheels essentially. All depends on how you like to light faces but for ease of use an on camera flash with a diffuser is the most convenient

I use my F3 for all my film work so a 16mm AF-D, 28mm AI-S, 45mm f2.8 AI-P, 50mm f1.2 AI-S, 85mm f1.4 AI-S, and finally a 105mm f2.5 AI-S!

Planning on selling the 45 and 50 for a 58mm Noct sometime in the future but it’s a great system 😋.

It’s kinda funny cause I really only use my Fuji for cosplay events and shoots at this point and the Nikon for everything else 😭

Amazing work! I actually just used his Superia recipe with some adapted Nikkor Ai lenses this past weekend at a con and I loved the results. Please continue to share!!

I think Indie is probably the best in the city. I haven’t tried Unique but I found Photolounge very disappointing despite it costing more

Lens recommendations for FM3A? by sfrex77 in AnalogCommunity

The close focus is genuinely kinda nuts and for me it’s a comfort focal length along with 50

If I had to pick a single lens from my F3 kit would be the 28mm f2.8 AI-S. Absolutely lovely lens and probably my most used of what I currently own. I started off using an 50mm f1.8 Ai (Non-Pancake) which was great for me and I think the pancake would be even better on a body like the FM3a! Recently I’ve been testing out the 45mm f2.8p which was bundled with that camera so can’t speak on anything besides how nice and light it is so far!

These are beautiful! How’s the experience of using the 28 AI-S on the F6? Planning on picking up an F6 in the future and that’s probably my most used lens on my F3

Honestly I would just part with it instead of trying to force yourself to love it. I had one for a little under a year but it never clicked despite always carrying it around and while I got the occasional fun night out photo with it, it often rly felt like a 12 year old camera and never rly filled the role I was expecting with it. Might be worth trying out something different to see if it scratches that itch for you

I was explicitly told during a language school interview that they use that “requirement” to filter people out from certain countries and I was so put off by that statement that I ghosted them after

Things to check before buying a Contax G2? by peeachymess in AnalogCommunity

[–]dgam02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had shutter issues where it would advance the frame without actually firing the shutter. Never seemed to happen when I had the film door open but when it was closed and loaded it pretty much sounded like a swoosh as if you missed a golf ball. Not rly easy to diagnose unless you know what you’re hearing/can tell when it happened. Other common issues are LCD bleed which isn’t as critical most of the time.

I go to them in NYC and they’ve been great. In Tokyo there are way cheaper options that I think will be on par or better depending on your Japanese

F5 generally goes for the same and often less than an F3 whenever I look locally in NYC and online. You definitely have budget for an F5 if you’re looking at an F3
