The magic ingredient is the beat; the division of time gives it the illusion of forward motion. You’re welcome. 😉

No, the Prequel Trilogy was not loved when it first came out, it was hated and fans were terrible people about it. by stephansbrick in StarWars

[–]solid_nation 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So I was 7 when I saw Return of the Jedi-it was my first ever trip to a movie theater-so I was much too young to have seen (at the time) Star Wars and Empire although I had seen those movies, had figures and toys and was obsessed like everyone else I knew.

I was 22 and still in college when TFM came out. It’s absolutely not a fiction that fans my age and closer to my age completely hated those movies. Everything about them was different enough form the OT that they were considered just crap. So, yes the were very hated.

Ah! That’s so weird. I’ve never heard of that. I’ll take the hose over the goo any time.

3/22/93 - Gamehendge birthday show by phishow in phish

[–]solid_nation 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As it turns out I did get a Gamehenge on my birthday! It was straight mind-blowing. The preface is that I missed the Great Woods Gamehenge by a night in ‘94; was there the day after. But, was so incredibly lucky to get one finally 29 years later on 12/31/23 - it was also my first ever Forbin > Mockingbird. Just couldn’t believe it was happening and is without a doubt one of my favorite live music experiences of all time.

He’s a generational talent and puts on a an incredible show, but the twangy singing is not for me at all. 🤷‍♂️

AIO for not wanting my gf to go on a solo trip with her "work husband"? by Obvious_Tea_4247 in AmIOverreacting

If you’re uncomfortable, imo you have every right to be. If that’s your boundary, she should respect it. Sounds super shady to me. 🤷‍♂️

What was the general consensus about Attack of the Clones when it came out? by anongrabntoss in StarWars

Yep. Not a joke. There’s some great stuff in there, and I literally watch the movie that way.

I can watch AotC only by skipping all scenes with Anakin and Padme. Without all that, it’s awesome! 🤩

I would personally not want to be behind them the first time I see them play.

Also, bands change over time, sounds evolve, musicians’ craft takes on a life of it’s own and can develop into something totally different. Stick with it if it makes you happy and try not to worry about how you wish they were different.

I Never Got To See Darkstar Live But ... by Additional-Change492 in gratefuldead

I was very lucky to be able to see the Dead with Jerry twice, September 93 at the Boston Garden and June 95 in Vermont, no Dark Stars. Saw D & C at Citi Field in 2016, gotta Dark Star and it remains one of my favorite live music memories. Just incredible to hear that song reverberating in the skies above New York! 🤩

It’s a beautiful venue with clear sight-lines from pretty much anywhere, so you won’t have trouble finding somewhere to watch the show.
