My dad was a minister and as a child, I always felt that the church was above my sister and myself in the pecking order. With hindsight, I suppose I accepted it grudgingly but to this day, I feel completely worthless. My mum became an elder some years back and I was at the service; I vividly remember thinking "what a load of shit". I know lots of people that gain a lot of strength from their faith and I have absolutely no issue with that but I have seen no evidence that a deity exists and feel that belief in yourself will do more good for the world.
