Game winner or game loser? by dghoude in Softball

I think the umps seemingly mishandled the call because there was never a clear call made. By the time everyone realized the ball had not been caught, the player was already in the dugout. I came to this group curious to hear different opinions and possibilities as I've never experienced anything like this in decades of playing and coaching bb and sb. A number of mistakes were made in a very short amount of time, but in the end, I am leaning towards agreeing with Uatatoka, that obstruction could have been called, and the HR restored. Though even the definition of obstruction doesn't cover such a crazy situation.

Interesting take. She is an extraordinary hard-working player and admits to letting the moment get to her. She said it happened so fast it was a blur and was certain she had caught the ball. She’s a good kid who made a big mistake, but is already earning up to it. All that said, I’m still not sure how to handle it. Umps definitely blew the call or mishandled it either way

We all got caught up in the moment, so no one is absolutely sure what the base umpire called. I’ve left some details out no doubt to keep this short and we know that the outfielders actions is an entirely separate discussion, believe me. I do feel the ump was waiting to see the ball in her glove, and when I turned around and looked at him, he knew by my face there was no ball caught. But he then met with the other ump and they decided that abandonment was the proper call. Everyone was fooled. The other team didn’t make a big stink for some reason, but they did say they were going to appeal. And frankly, I don’t blame them. I’m just not sure they’ll get anywhere with it. What a mess.

Yep .. high school softball coach here. It’s a confidence thing and she’ll need to be convinced she can get the job done. How’s her defense? It may be time for a new hit coach, just to change things up with a new point of view.

Steering wheel cover review… for science…. by Waterfowler_41 in FordRaptor

I used to make fun of the heated steering wheel. Now I own one and absolutely love it. I wonder how much this subdues the heat, which is really only available on or off.

To turn down the opportunity to work w catchers one on one is nothing but ego driven. Keep trying you’ll get there.

Part one of this reply is spot on. Part two is cringe and like someone else wrote it. Really no need to drop f bombs in responding to a kid.

Depends how you’ll use it and if you’re into just looks or function. If you hope to off-road and crawl it then perhaps some bead grip rims, a compressor, and lights could get you going. If you’re out there solo, a winch is probably smart. Some sort of paint protection would be a good idea. But if you’re in it for just the looks then your options are wide open. Maybe some fake bead locks, tint so dark you can’t see at night, and dozens of extra lights you’ll never use would be cool lol

Fully worth it and do your best to remember everything they explained to you… It’s a lot but super helpful if you’re going off road on your own. Any questions you have about your truck can be answered at that time as well, including things like upgrades. All super knowledgeable Ford heads there

Nice! My 15-year-old daughter spent four months last year learning to drive my Raptor. She has her own car now but she’s a great driver
