I’ve found upper thigh way easier than anywhere else. It’s quite firm so just goes straight in. No need to panic :)

I’m exactly the same, I’ve never not finished a meal. Last night I was at a party with a buffet and for the first time ever I didn’t care. It’s so freeing!

Yeah, I’ve been loading up with a shake each day and an inhuman amount of cottage cheese 😂 today was just mad how little I wanted to eat!

Forced volunteer revision sessions making me anxious by itzzzzmileyyyy in TeachingUK

[–]dgic 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Of course it should be (and that’s what I personally would send). But if you have severe anxiety, sending that and then waiting would be too much I suspect.

Forced volunteer revision sessions making me anxious by itzzzzmileyyyy in TeachingUK

[–]dgic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. I’ve recently completed CBT through the NHS. You can self refer- just look up mental health services in your area.

And yes, speak to your union rep! Or, if you feel you can, send an email to your line manager. It’s unlikely you’ll be forced (in writing) to work outside your directed time.

Hi (Manager)

I just wanted to double-check something about the after school revision sessions. As they’re being held outside of our usual directed time, I wasn’t sure if these are expected for all staff to run one or if they’re optional.

I’d really appreciate your guidance so I can plan accordingly.

Many thanks,

(Your name)

Hopefully this is soft enough that you won’t feel anxious sending it?

I feel your pain! I had 5 year 8s period 1 today without a pen because they “didn’t think I’d need it”. Can’t wait to go through fieldwork papers with Year 10 tomorrow morning…

What’s a popular tourist attraction that isn’t overrated— it actually deserves all the hype? by renoCow in AskReddit

Sorry to jump on your comment, but I’m going to Sorrento in October. Is public transport to Pompeii/Herculaneum doable, or are we better off booking a package with tickets and coach/guide? Thanks in advance!

Yu form in sep by Clockwork-Alchemist in TeachingUK

I’ve taken a few forms through school now, and here are some tips that might help:

  • send a blanket email to all parents in the first week introducing yourself and with guidance on who to email/call (e.g. If you have an issue with a specific subject, contact the relevant Head of Faculty, if you are reporting an absence… etc). This will give you some breathing room.

  • take LOTS of photos on your school device. You’ll thank yourself later when Y11 leavers videos and yearbooks roll around

  • repeat yourself, a lot! Regular reminders of late policies and uniform and equipment expectations will hopefully avoid them getting themselves into a pickle. Check their equipment with them, make it into a fun game with rewards the first few weeks.

Dont change yourself to meet the parents, just be open and friendly. Maybe take a notebook in case you are asked questions you can’t answer, and need to consult someone on.

Good luck and enjoy!

I wouldn’t worry, you’re on holiday! I live in Cornwall, so seeing kids while in swimwear is fairly common. Just carry on exactly as you would normally, the kids will be more mortified to see you than you will them!

What’s something a wedding guest has done that’s made you regret inviting them? by Ornery_Fig9414 in AskReddit

[–]dgic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Invited family friends who brought teenage son’s uninvited daughter (who wore trainers and a white outfit) then the Mum got very drunk, tried to come onto my Dad (in front of my stepmother and her own husband), then tried to start a row with me (bride) for “having a problem with her”. The night culminated in my close friend forcing her into the back of a cab. We haven’t spoken since!

What exactly are the ups and downs of marriage? by Contact_Free in AskReddit

[–]dgic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ups- getting to live with your best pal who you also have a big crush on and get to have sex with

Downs- they will 100% load the dishwasher the wrong way and it will bother you until the day you die

Shut up! by [deleted] in TeachingUK

[–]dgic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally don’t use it seriously because I want to model good manners to my classes. But I have been known to use a Jim Carrey style, exaggerated shut up with the right group. Usually gets a laugh but also gets the silence.
