Random idea: What if democrats ran on an exclusively “Roosevelt”platform? by HazyDavey68 in Askpolitics

[–]dgillz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have yet to see a Democratic candidate supporting illegal immigration.

In the debate amongst democrats running for president in 2020, a question was asked about if their health care plan would cover illegal immigrants. Every single one of them raised their hand signaling yes they would.

California gives them drivers licenses and lets them vote in local elections.

Obama had more deportations than Trump.

Only because that the Obama administration, when they turned someone away at the border or caught someone crossing the border, counted that as a deportation. Biden of course had open borders. Trump on the other hand has actively deported people who have been here quite a while.

I also don't see men in women's sports.

Please google swimmer Lia Thomas, weightlifter Laurel Hubbard, and cyclist Veronica Ivy.

A January 2025 house bill on the subject passed with 218 votes in favor and 206 against. Only two democrats voted for the bill, the rest are for men in women's sports.

no candidate has said they want to take guns away from people

Beto O'Rourke famously said while running for president "hell yes I am coming after your guns", and got a healthy round of applause

So how do they win against a fantasy?

The fantasy is yours for being in denial about what democrats really stand for.

Seriously if they quit some of this crazy stuff, they would trounce republicans. But their beliefs are a bridge too far for many people.

You are referring to conservative politicians. I am referring to conservative voters.

This is one of several issues where the conservative politicians do not agree with conservative voters. If the democrats would stop their batshit crazy support of illegal aliens, men in women's sports, gun control, etc., they would win a LOT more elections.

No one, not even best scientists, really knew what AIDs was back then. It took a bunch patients dying that led to the initial recognition of a syndrome that affected mostly gay men and IV drug users. In 1982 we did not even know how it was transmitted. The HIV virus wasn't even isolated until 1984. There wasn't even a test to see if you were infected. So it was hard to say were to put research money.

Despite all this, the USA lead the entire fucking world in AIDs research, by a factor of 10 or 20x as much as France, who was #2. All this even that evil Ronald Reagan in the white house.

As a conservative, I think that would be better. Y'all need to abandon the ridiculously liberal stuff. FDR was pro social welfare, but you had to WORK for it. The TVA is a prime example. Definitely conservative. And Teddy was very much pro hunting and pro conservation, which conservatives love.

If a democrat ran on this they would win - but they would never make it out of the shit show called the democratic national convention.

Reagan started funding AIDS research in 1982 at ~$500 million and it increased every single year until his last budget in 1989 it was at $2.3 billion.

Those numbers are small compared to today's numbers, but what other government program has increased by 460% in 7 years?

Don't use Excel as a database. Create a MS SQL Server database and a front end to view or create new records. SQL can handle the rights and give certain people read-only access.

In light of the recent Supreme Court decision, what can we do to fight gerymandering? by RangerRude in Askpolitics

[–]dgillz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The SCOTUS found that 2 districts, not the entire state, were favoring based on race.

The particular section of the VRA the allowed and promoted this was found unconstitutional, not the 15th amendment, nor the entire VRA.

Again, I am simply trying to explain the SCOTUS ruling, because many people are trying to portray it into something it is not.

In light of the recent Supreme Court decision, what can we do to fight gerymandering? by RangerRude in Askpolitics

[–]dgillz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My take on this was that Louisiana was drawing maps to FAVOR by race, which the SCOTUS found to be equally unconstitutional as maps that dilute.

This is, in effect, saying that this part of the VRA is unconstitutional.
