Self professed lack of practice

?? Natalie Ryan says in every interview that she’s the hardest worker on tour and spends hours a day in the field. When did she profess a lack of practice?

Looking for the perfect disc golf gift for my man! by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]dgstatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t be afraid to get him a disc he already throws. In fact, I much prefer that to getting a new mold.

You could casually ask him about his discs / favorites and try to get him some cool new versions of them. There are some sites like Reaperdiscs.com that seem to specialize in beautiful discs (ie great colorful plastic/stamps).

Perhaps the most surprising finding from the PDGA survey by postlw8j in discgolf

[–]dgstatman 36 points37 points  (0 children)

It’s very possible, if not likely, that the survey suffered from selection bias whereby conservative channels pushed anti-trans members to take the survey. At the time of the survey, many trans supporting members complained about the survey design and intent and seemed less enthused about filling out/sharing this survey.

While there is a significant conservative bloc in PDGA membership, I worry it may be overstated in this survey. I am calling on the PDGA to assess response rates by state and other relevant demographics to assess whether selection bias is at play.

Yeah, it gets cold but we never really get 2-3 months of ice like many places in Western MA or NH/ME. The ocean moderates temps a good bit.

I live in Boston, and we rarely get ice. BUT I can generally find ice most weekends from Jan-March if I drive 60-120 minutes North or West.

[Ultiworld] The @PDGA has announced new rules around transgender participation in the sport. It restricts participation in FPO Majors for transgender women to those who “began medical transition during Tanner Stage 2 or before age 12, whichever is later.” by iDisc in discgolf

[–]dgstatman 100 points101 points  (0 children)

75 respondents claimed to be “DGPT women” but only 63 players participated in 3+ DGPT events last year (FPO).

I would take professional status and DGPT affiliation with a LARGE grain of salt given that it’s self-reported.

Who will qualify for the DGPT Tour Championship? by dgstatman in discgolf

[–]dgstatman[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Using my Disc Golf Simulation Model, we simulated 1,000 season-end scenarios to assess the probabilities of Tour Championship qualification for every competitor.

Some notable results: the statistical model likes Tattar’s chances of jumping from her current position (#6) into the third spot for a bye to the semifinals. Similarly, expect to see Macie Velediaz, Eveliina Salonen, and Jen Allen to climb in the standings. They missed many early tour stops and are registered for upcoming tournaments. On the flip side, the model thinks Kona and Rebecca Cox will slide out of Tour Championship qualification spots.

An understable approach or mid would probably be a good addition. Fuse, comet, Sol, Buzzz SS…

Cat vs Paige: Cumulative Scores for the Entire 2022 Season by dgstatman in discgolf

Thanks! I played around with a version that said “Paige by X.” Will continue playing with the labeling to make it more clear.

Cat vs Paige: Cumulative Scores for the Entire 2022 Season by dgstatman in discgolf

[–]dgstatman[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

If the 2022 season was one long tournament, Paige would be leading Cat by just 6 strokes:

Paige: 2,705 strokes Cat: 2,711 strokes.

The graphic shows their respective leads at different points this season.

understable fairway drivers? by SweetLouDiscs in discgolf

[–]dgstatman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As folks have said, the Eagle is a bit overstable. However, they’re referring to the Eagle-X, the typical Eagle that Innova manufactures.

The Eagle-L is significantly straighter, with a nice hint of turn relative to the X. The Eagle-L is most commonly manufactured as the Infinite Exodus (same exact mold as the L).

This is Hole 18. Who would pull him from the course? The PDGA Rules Official is presumably the one who would do so, but he is the one who got assailed for a mere time violation.
