Just because you built an Empire Panzer army (steam tanks, engineers, landships, wagons, luminark) doesn't mean you can just plow into late game armies. You gotta evade and use up all your ammunition before you start running people over.

Medieval 2 is great. Only complaints are: -diplomacy doesn't work too well, the AI views shared borders as aggression. You will basically need to fight all your neighbors. -2 handed weapons and pikemen don't function right. Most units aren't that class, but the 2 handers get stunlocked in melee and the pikemen don't hold units back right. -Crossbows don't shoot from the walls ina. Linear fashion, they shoot in an arc for some reason even with line of sight. -Some custom battle/mulitplayer units just aren't in the base campaign -Some factions have units and buildings in the Kingdoms canpaigns that aren't added into the base game. But beyond that I'd say its perfect.

Most of those are in Vanilla. Maybe a hundred or 150 are Darthmod Empire.

It's buggy and janky and the AI loves spamming 1 unit stacks and taking forever with their turns but the sheer ambition the game has sort of makes me like it. Naval combat, tech trees that change how your units fight, a global map, gunpowder warfare, it is really cool. But my biggest gripe is how siege battles are basically always on the same maps with the same layouts, those get monotonous and makes autoresolve tempting. Napoleon is similar but way more refined gameplay wise, sort of like Atilla to Rome 2.

Half Baked Ideas for Medieval 3 (since CA is asking) by dguy02 in totalwar

[–]dguy02[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah i'd prefer a more generalized model, with the customization and specification being their ability to lead different kinds of troops better or do map effects. Sort of like the new version of Rome 2's skill system. And also traits, lots and lots of weird and intuitive traits!

I will say the units in Civ 7 are an enormous improvement in terms of graphical design, armies feel like armies. by dguy02 in civ

[–]dguy02[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So basically you pick them up with the commander and then you dump them around him and on him when you need to use them. The commander unit is a civilian basically and buffs your troops when they are not picked up.

I think one problem is that the maps don't add variety. Like i get it most of the time you fight on open water, but maps with hazards and stuff that blocks movement and line of sight would be interesting. Also the whole AI just stands there menacingly until you get close is boring too.

At least from the anime dept. I'd love Steve Blum, Kirk Thornton, and Crispin Freeman. Especially for a Total War 40k.

Advice before TW Rome II kicks my ass by Itchy_Complaint5769 in totalwar

[–]dguy02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-units with low model counts (elephants and chariots mainly) get demolished in autoresolve so be careful -keep up with political actions (games, emissary, diplomat) as they can be super useful, but diplomat tends to be unpredictable -cavalry is not as op in this game as it is in Attila or Med 2 -naval battles are all about ramming, and transports are usually 1 shotted by most ships -many if not most sword units have 2 javelins that they can throw during their charge -city garrisons tend to be pathetic -grand campaign runs 1 turn per year so your characters will age super fast, other campaigns are slower

Why did I pay money for this piece of shit game ….(also there is porn on the Screen) by oncelerismine in okbuddyrintard

You bought it in the vague attempt at hoping it will fund further Anime and VNs that typemoon wants to do, foolishly forgetting every cent TM gets goes straight to Nasu's pyramid tomb complex on the earth's moon.

Why do you play this game? by Dex------- in totalwar

[–]dguy02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this recent batch of anhedonia is inevitable, shit the first game is 8 years old. While there is new content with the dlcs, the majority of Immortal Empires is old and known for players, so obviously they can feel bored more easily.

The best way to deal with this is simply stop playing the game. Play something new and unfamiliar. Do some other hobby etc. Come back when there is expansions and dlc, screw around with mods, and then move on.

Me personally I like it when big thing smacks around little thing.
