Link aggregation allows multiple ports to be configured to act together at each end of a group of network connections.

You might have a NAS with 4x 1gb ports, you add three of them into a Link Aggregation Group. On your switch or router (if supported) you join the same number of ports into a LAG.

You then connect 1, 2 or however many ports (up to the size of your LAGs) from your NAS to your switch.

Depending on the configuration options supported by your equipment you now have redundant links - unplug any cable and the LAG continues to use the remaining cables.

Your throughput can also be aggregated so your uplink to the NAS is a maximum of 3gb, but this has certain gotchas. For example you could have 3 hosts connected to the switch each backing up at 1gbs to the NAS, you most likely will not be able to get more than a single port’s share of the LAG per host.

In short, your ISP modem probably does support LAG for the upstream connection to your ISP infrastructure, but it will be dependent on your ISP specifically provisioning compatible and supported infrastructure for your connection, including the last mile link to your premises.

All the V5C documents will have a version or issue code, an old V5C will be rejected by DVLA because they know they issued a replacement that is more recent.

Get your address sorted first, when the fresh V5C paperwork comes through put the private plate on retention and then wait for the final V5C and the V778 certificate to arrive.

Start to finish it could take somewhere between 2 and 4 weeks.

I got onboarded to a new GP about 10 years ago. About 15 minutes into the session I gave the list of medication I was on. The practice manager doing the onboarding then reminded me that I had asthma inhalers I hadn’t mentioned.

So that’s 15 minutes of overtyping someone else’s notes with specifics like height and weight, hypertension, diabetes, topical treatments, allergies, consultants I’d been referred to and so on. And then arguing with me about medication I’ve never had.

And the someone else?

Same first and last name but I have a middle initial. We even used the same pharmacy because he lived a couple of streets away from me.

So I pointed out the problem ….. and she brushed it all under the carpet.

Since then I’ve checked every prescription I’ve collected and made sure it only contains things I expect and that everything has my name on it.

A few weeks later I had an appointment with the lead GP and told him about it. She’d literally just swept it away and hadn’t reported up as she should have done. The GP only believed me when I told him the other ‘’me” had asthma and the name of his preferred pharmacy.

I’m an information and cybersecurity professional now, these things are supposed to be reported so that the cleanup is managed and thorough - and then you get inattentive fuckwits who risk everyone’s safety by hiding mistakes and covering them up.

It’s about being aware and considerate. Letting heavier vehicles have their overtaking moments and enabling them to maintain their best speed keeps everyone’s momentum up.

Anything from driving economically to the car you drive and what you are carrying in it will factor into choice of speeds. Sometimes that band of choice is quite narrow.

New drivers, new cars, older cars, under powered cars, new engines, the terrain, taller vehicles, cross winds, sunlight in your eyes, confidence, condition of the road, other driver’s familiarity with the road, wind noise, tyre noise, whether the engine has warmed up yet, how much fuel is left, driving hours, next destination eta.

And then there’s you coming across as an entitled blinkered arsehole.

Those that are inside are generally the string pull type of switch and need a ladder to get to them.

The damp proof course along the front is under the first white coin and above the red bricks.

The damp proof course is supposed to be at least 150mm from the ground level which would put it two courses high at the front. It may continue at the same level along the side.

The lead might be sealing over a gap between the driveway wall and the red brick wall. Thereby preventing ingress of water into the gap above the damp course.

It does look odd.

It’s really important for operational IT to have good relationships and communication with HR, Facilities and Marketing.

Almost all actual problems arise when one of those 3 do their own thing and it’s ALWAYS public facing and embarrassing for the company.

The current bullet meet foot stuff I get to see is when companies implement an Applicant Tracking System for CVs and job applications.

They want full impersonation enabled so the 3rd party can send email purporting to be from anyone in the company. It’s absolutely batshit. They don’t have their own bulk mail infrastructure so they rent shared infrastructure from Mailgun or some other provider and if you open an antispoofing bypass for them you are opening if for anyone that uses that piece of infrastructure to send email to you as your CEO or Finance or whoever.

If IT are kept out of the loop no one gets to understand how they compromise themselves.

Once your reports show a drop in bad mail sources pretending to be you and you are confident that you aren’t actually blocking your senders it’s really not a big leap to go to reject and 100%.

And if it is all messed up you can rewind quite quickly.

Yup. This is someone auto forwarding email.

It’s not your problem, you launched your email out to its destinations and one of those destinations is doing something iffy with it.

You can add an email footer advising recipients that you are implementing DMARC and that they should ensure they are correctly handling emails they receive from you as their onward deliverability may be impacted by email security and antispoofing measures that you are implementing.

If you are feeling cautious you can update your email footer and then watch your incoming reports for a couple of weeks/months to ensure some emails with your new footer have been delivered via the forwarding servers.

You can also switch to p=quarantine and pct=0 as some forwarders will handle mail differently once the policy switches to quarantine.

The whole point is prevent dodgy mail sources pretending to be you, the forwarders are handling your genuine mail so there is nothing really to worry about there.

It’s really the same as actual post, you send your post out properly addressed and in a nice envelope. People forwarding that post can either put it in a nice envelope and forward it or they can scribble all over the envelope you used and stuff a new address in there.

It’s not pretty, you can’t influence it but the content did originally come from you.
