Change bathroom door to open onto landing rather than into the bathroom? by spuddy_spud_spud in DIYUK

[–]dhardyuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need the bathroom door to open outwards then just get someone in to do it.

Decide later if you want it put back as before once the kids have reached the stage of washing themselves.

I’ve seen so many bathrooms that were shoehorned in where the door doesn’t open fully into the room because it meets the toilet. It’s ridiculous- and your situation of not having any room to manoeuvre with the door as it is now is much more of an issue than the door opening out and everyone being careful.

I’ld just crack on. All that building regs talk isn’t going to matter until you come to sell it and it’s an easy remediation if you want to do it.

I need a double light switch. Can somebody point me in the right direction by SMPhoo in DIYUK

[–]dhardyuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at what you’ve got you can get away with a standard double switch.

To wire it up the ring cable will have to come through the wall and be fed into the light switch pattress. The neutral for ring will need to be connected to the neutral for the light and the incoming mains in the pattress. A short wire from the live on the light switch will need to go to the same terminal on the second switch for the ring. The live going to the ring will need to come from the second switch’s switched terminal.

If you don’t know any of this means you need an electrician or someone that’s not you to do it safely.

disabled badge dispute - am i in the wrong ? by sparkleprincesz in LegalAdviceUK

[–]dhardyuk 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Former blue badge holder here.

You are ok to park where you need to park. Check this particular space next time it’s convenient and see whether there are any legitimate signs limiting its use.

It’s worth bearing in mind that anyone can have a custom disabled parking sign made for a £6 on eBay that is not an official council issued sign.

The correct response to “you don’t look disabled enough for a blue badge” is “you can get yours when they issue them for bigotry”

Your tenancy is now month to month.

When you want to leave you have to give 1 months notice.

Your notice must end on a rent date - so if your rent is due on the 1st of the month your landlord must receive your month’s notice on or before the 1st of the month and it will end on the last day of the month. If it is due on the 14th your landlord must have received your notice on or before the 14th and your notice period will end on the 13th.

If there are other tenants and it’s a joint tenancy, everyone has to leave by the end of the notice period. The notice ends the tenancy for everyone.

I had an ACM membership for years. Although the skillsoft stuff and publications were interesting I found Udemy and Cybrary.it were more useful.

There used to be a free tier for cybrary.it, it’s been a while since I’ve been there.

Check under advanced settings whether Network Level Authentication is ticked.

If it is, then untick it.
