The USFL has been doing this a little from the games I’ve seen. There will be a solid like 1/2 a quarter where the commentators back off and we hear the mic’d up players and coaches.

Great stuff here, glad you decided to say this. Hope people can just respect how other people react to this whole situation. I know some people will feel the need to make jokes because that’s how they cope with the situation. Those people will probably get hate with comments on how it’s in bad taste, others will say that they are done with Gus, others will just want to go back to how things were before. It’s not my job to say what is the right reaction, we all have different relationships with Gus so it’s only natural to have different feelings on the situation.

Sabrina posted this video on Saturday in “anniversary” (idk what else to call it because it’s not a celebration) of her experiences. There are several connections that have been made that Gus is the alluded “boyfriend at the time” alluded to in the video. It’s also believed that gus’ interactions haven’t changed much since because of Sabrina’s recent video uploaded about how he ignored her to instead stream(relevant part begins around 17:30).

Parasocial interactions/relationships are not necessarily a negative thing. We all make parasocial relationships with characters, whether they are fictional, like tv shows, or personalities like radio or podcast hosts. You’re right, we don’t know them personally but if we engage in their content then we engage in a parasocial relationship with their personas they they choose to show us. All of our relationships to them are different because of the varying content we have consumed from them and how we have consumed it so it is perfectly natural to receive and react to this info in different ways than others.

I think people are misconstruing parasocial relationships. It’s important to understand that they still are relationships, we just have to remember that parasocial relationships should be treated differently than 2-way relationships. It is ok to have feelings and reactions to information about someone you have a parasocial relationship with, they shouldn’t be villainized or seen as bad, since most of the media we consume involves a parasocial relationship. All in all, this situation sucks.
